A big winter of both the velocity and command side of things for Bouch. Bouch always had high level velocity but struggled to do it consistently and command it. Hes a good example of how the COM shift can improve rotational velocities and impact command/ball flight.

What did he focus on?

1. His set-up: Last year his set-up directly impacted his load in a negative way. Now having him more upright with the ability to drop into the load vs already being stuck in it.

2. Posture: Alex loves to shift weight over his toes but last year did this so much that it impacted how he rotated and forced him to yank back across the mound vs being able to unwind thru the target.

3. Stacked at Landing: Obviously a lot of this is determined by the moves prior to it but both of the changes mentioned above have allowed to him to have a more stacked posture with the ball flipped deep. Letting the torso/arm be accelerated late and in the right direction.

These changes have cleaned up his shapes and allow them to be more consistent while also command the ball at a much higher clip. Excited to see him keep shoving for the Red Sox.

Bullpen Views with Red Sox RHP Alex Bouchard 🔥

92-94 and finally staying behind the baseball. Bouch has a really unique low slotted arsenal highlighted by his Sweeper that gets into the mid 80s. Runs his FB up to 98 and is heading on top his first full pro season.
