It all starts with him.
ID photos of my grandfather when he was nearly 20. At that age, he had chosen to renounce his family and his history, and the first fragments of the new family myth were already beginning to take shape.

My grandfather was an excellent storyteller, turning every memory into an epic tale in which he was often the main character. He began each of his stories with ‘I remember…’, when I think he should have said, ‘Once upon a time…’.

Isn’t it unsettling to realise that one same story can change completely as it passes from one person to another, from one memory to another, from one generation to the next?
One even wonders: which version is closest to the truth?

Of my grandpa and me,
Time flies like flees
On a broken VP,
White pixels eating, growing,
Black pixels longing, lasting.
