🇵🇸 Ibrahim on Netanyahu’s Oct. 7th Threats | “IT’S THE ORDINARY CIVILIANS WHO PAY THE PRICE.”

Tomorrow is the 3-year anniversary of October 7.

In my conversation with Ibrahim in Gaza today, he spoke about the warnings Netanyahu issued ahead of October 7—and what those words sound like to someone living inside Gaza.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has warned that Israel will respond with overwhelming force if Hamas carries out attacks. But Ibrahim’s concern is about what happens afterward.

As he explains, when political leaders make threats, it is ordinary Palestinian civilians who so often end up paying the price.

🇵🇸 GAZANS FEAR WHAT OCTOBER 7 MAY BRING

I spoke with my friend Ibrahim in Gaza this morning, October 6.

Tomorrow marks October 7, and Ibrahim tells me there is a great deal of fear and anxiety among people in Gaza about what the anniversary may bring.

In our conversation, Ibrahim talks about Netanyahu’s warning that Israel will respond with great force if Hamas carries out attacks this week—and shares his own fear that this could become a justification for further attacks that kill civilians.

For those of us watching our Palestinian friends from thousands of miles away, October 7 is a very worrisome date on the calendar. There is nowhere safe in Gaza, and attacks have gotten more frequent over the past week, so the prospect of what tomorrow brings is, in Ibrahim’s words, “frightening.”

🇵🇸❤️ A FATHER & HIS CHILDREN | EVERYDAY LIFE IN GAZA

This is Hani traveling with three of his children to visit his father in northern Gaza. They’re riding in a cart being pulled behind a car—one small journey through the landscape they now call home.

Though his kids smile and flash peace signs at the camera (so cute!),✌️❤️ If you look beyond them, you can’t help but notice tents housing displaced families everywhere.

And Hani looks weary to me. He is living with a serious leg injury and is still waiting for the medical treatment he needs. He tells me the crossing remains closed and that he still hasn’t been able to receive treatment. He lives with terrible pain, yet he must carry on for his children.

Right now, we’re trying to ease the burden and raise $1,500 for Hani and his family. This amount will help Hani get a stronger tent before winter.

Before the war, I worked as a barber and fully supported my family; we had a beautiful life and lacked nothing. Now, I am homeless, unemployed, and a war casualty. My family consists of six members—including four children, one of whom is an infant—all of whom need many basic necessities. Since being injured in 2024, I have required a joint replacement; although I have undergone numerous surgeries, I have unfortunately been unable to have the necessary operation on my leg because the border crossings are closed. I am currently living in a dilapidated tent.
Winter is knocking at the door again, yet we have no home to keep us warm, as ours was completely destroyed and rental prices in Gaza are astronomically high. Unfortunately, our tent has deteriorated due to rodents and sun exposure; it is now torn, and we need to replace it to keep the rain from leaking in on me and my children. A new tent costs $1,500. Please help, even a little, my friend. I hope you won't overlook this plea. With all my love. by @alexemis99

This is Hani and his four children.

Before the war, Hani was a barber. He worked, supported his family, and—as he says in this video—life was beautiful.

Now, everything has changed.

Hani no longer has work, but he still has four children and a wife depending on him. One of his children is still an infant. His wife recently suffered a stroke, and Hani himself lives with constant pain after his leg was seriously injured in 2024. He needs a joint replacement but has been unable to get the surgery he needs.

His family is currently living in a deteriorating tent. With winter approaching, one of Hani’s greatest wishes is simply to get his children a new tent that can better protect them from the cold and rain.

I told Hani I would help him.

So this week, I’m asking you to help me keep that promise.

🇵🇸 Nesma on Life in Gaza: "EVERYTHING IS DESTROYED. NOWHERE IS SAFE.”

“I wish the world would hear my voice and watch this video.”

This is Nesma, filming from near her bombed-out home in Gaza.

She turns her camera toward what remains of the neighborhood around her: damaged and destroyed homes, buildings reduced to rubble, and a landscape she barely recognizes anymore.

As she films, Nesma tells us she is frightened. She says the bombing is continuing around her, and she doesn't feel safe enough to keep recording for long.

“The situation is frightening and too difficult… no place is safe.”

But she wants people outside Gaza to see what she sees.

She wants us to understand that behind the images of destruction are real people who once had homes, neighborhoods, familiar streets, livelihoods, plans, and ordinary lives.

And she wants her voice to be heard.
