Four “once in a lifetime” experiences later…..

In 2014, I fell in love with football. My argentine brother, Hernan, practically forced me to watch the World Cup. We were in Tallahassee taking one class over the summer semester and with nothing better to do I watched “soccer” for the first time. Growing up in America we generally look down on the sport while the rest of the world reveres it with incredible passion. That summer I learned why.

Now I reflect on 12 years of obsession with the beautiful game and consider how lucky I am to watch these games being played in my home country. I was able to go with my cousin to see France play Senegal in NYC. I flew to Atlanta to see my favorite player show why he is the greatest striker in the world. I was in Miami watching Haaland vs kane with my dad. Then finally watching Argentina come back to beat England in the semi final. I feel so lucky to enjoy this tournament in person and to celebrate with so many different types of people who feel the same way.

This sport has become such a huge part of my life. The pain and glory of following Tottenham (mostly pain), joining a local pick up game, group chats dedicated to talking to shit about each others clubs and the businesses I won’t visit because they support rival clubs.
