Painting my way through life. Slightly quirky. Surprisingly serious about it.

Maybe you didn’t know this about me?

👉🏻 I am a very social, outgoing and unashamed introvert with a great need to be left alone. Sometimes a challenging combination.

👉🏻 I knew I wanted to be an actor when I was 7 years old. I am currently part of the theatre ensemble Top Dog Improv and play improvised comedy at Improsstudion in Stockholm.

👉🏻 I love indoor cycling and used to work as an instructor for all kinds of classes for 19 years.

👉🏻 I am tall: a full 6’0.5” (184 cm) and am amazed by the common question “how tall are you?” (I would never ask that question to a short person. 😅)

👉🏻 I hate the taste of cardamom. I feel physically sick from the taste and doesn’t understand why people voluntarily choose to eat it.

👉🏻 I am incredibly fast at peeling shrimp (innate talent, not something I have done or do often).

👉🏻 I’m a sucker for starting projects, the flow of ideas never ends so I have to be determined and resolute when it comes to prioritizing so as not to drift away completely.

👉🏻 I have a mother from Sweden and a father from Egypt.

👉🏻 I love electronic music. I can’t stand hard rock.

👉🏻 I love dogs. Especially my two Italian Greyhounds, Eskil & Frans.

👉🏻 I paint as relaxation and sometimes I sell a piece.

Who are YOU reading this? I want to get to know you! Feel free to share a trivial or important fact about yourself, you are more than welcome to jam away in the comments section below!

Turns out growing up was optional.

Stick around. We don’t take adulthood too seriously.

This is one of the few places where I completely lose track of time.

Painting. Listening to audiobooks. Having the dogs asleep right next to me.

My second painting in my very first series is slowly coming to life, and I honestly couldn’t be more excited.

I’m not saying everyone should become an artist.

But because making something reminds us that we’re more than consumers.

Even if it’s just for ten minutes.

The first painting in my very first series. 🤍

I’m curious how you experience her.

I have a feeling my dogs have accidentally become some of my best life teachers.

They don’t care how productive I’ve been. They don’t care if I made something impressive today. They just seem happy that I exist. 🥹

That’s a pretty beautiful way to love someone, isn’t it? 🤍 by @alexia.rahm

This feels kinda awkward. Yet… right. This is me showing up more here as ME.

I long for more connections and humanity and this is a thing I want to try more. Just talking to you. As a friend.

I will share more of my world, my thoughts, my questions and feelings, as well as my creative journey. Showing you the good, the bad and the ugly.

I hope you want to follow along. 💛 by @alexia.rahm

I spent part of my time at our summer house experimenting with gouache.

It felt a bit like meeting someone new. At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. Then, little by little, I started noticing the things I loved.

The opacity reminds me of acrylic, my favourite medium. But gouache has its own kind of magic: you can reactivate the paint with a little water and keep working, even after it has dried. I love that the colours can be reactivated with water. Somehow it makes painting feel more forgiving.

I’m still getting to know it, but I have a feeling this won’t be the last time we meet. by @alexia.rahm

I mean… what’s not to love?

Time with family, sunny weather, painting, drawing, visiting art shows, the sea, nature…

So grateful for this life. Not taking anything for granted 💛
