This year I’m taking a pretty big step away from the music biz to pursue some other passions. I’m excited to see where this next chapter takes me, and I’ve been spending a lot of time reflecting on my years in music.

There’s a lot I’ve been a part of that I’ve never really shared in detail, mostly because talking about yourself can be one of the hardest things to do. But as I close out this chapter, I want to start sharing some of the projects I was really happy to be a part of.

So many of my favorite music memories came from my time working the front desk at SCM. In 2022, the school raised funds for its scholarship program with a benefit dinner honoring architect Barbara Bestor, with performances by RHCP, Thundercat (w/ DOMi & JD Beck) and the SCM All Stars. The school grants scholarships to children who qualify- providing free weekly one-on-one lessons, instruments and more. I asked the extremely talented @marqueemaraudersclub to create a figurine honoring the school’s founder for the art auction; this was right around the release of the Chili Peppers’ thirteenth studio album. (shout out @daxid_ for the connect)

My favorite part of working behind the scenes in music was connecting the dots in making sure everything comes together. I learned so much about managing space at the school and fostering community through music education. I miss working with my music school besties a lot!!
Watching the kids watch Thundercat rip in the parking lot was a god damn treat.

The most gorgeous way to spend International Women’s Day is with badass lowrider girlies, biker babes and my favorite DJs. I am blessed to have such beautiful and talented women guiding me ㅤ♡⋆˙⟡

Today marks my last day at Gold-Diggers as the lead for ticketing and marketing across the venue, studio, and hotel.

For the past two years I’ve chased moments through the bar with a camera in hand, wandered the studio bothering our engineers asking wtf it means to run a vocal through a compressor, and learned every nut and bolt that keeps this whole machine running. I’ve loved the messiness of it all; the on-the-spot troubleshooting, the long nights, the shoots, and the small wins shared with our team.

I’m so thankful for the fun memories: dancing with friends behind the decks, watching artists I once only admired from afar walk through our recording studio doors or step onto the bar stage. Part of the magic was always our audience. The late night conversations, the shared excitement, the reminder that loving live music is its own kind of religion. Hearing your favorite song in a room built for kickass sound is a high you don’t forget.

I’ve been a one person street team, the person sending off updated ticket counts and designing bar sponsor menus, and every part of it has meant more than I can say. I’m thankful for the wild, wonderful opportunities this place gave me: assisting with content shoots for Consequence, catching @kneecap32 between Coachella weekends and working alongside legend Nicole Alvarez with @babymetal_official.

I’m stepping away to take a break and pursue new creative projects, but I’m not going far. See you at a show soon ♡ taken in Gold-Diggers by @alexiajim_
