extremely belated! but eternally grateful for these people for being a part of my life- and for surprising me with something scarier and funnier than this decade birthday (but mostly for shalev’s birthday ofc). just wanted to revisit a desert tradition last november and you all made it so perfect. most talented, lovely and creative friends- charcuterie pros, lighting design vibe experts, hoop masters, tech wizards + the most intelligent, beautiful beings to exist. the company i keep is far better than me, don’t know how i got so lucky but love you all. #calmadatribe #yuccavalley taken in Pioneertown, California by @alexiscelic

lost my little gremlin guy a few weeks ago somewhat suddenly. don’t even know what to say, these losses never get easier. Gordy had some medical issues the whole time I had him but had been doing well and improving in some areas (while declining in others).

grateful i was able to find him and share the last 3+ years of his life with him- i found him through @maedayrescue rescue and was immediately in love (slide 2 was the first pic I ever saw of him).

he was the life of the party at all times and loved his food. his legacy will live on forever, as will all of the made up stories we have about his life, his past and his character. miss this sweet boy so much 💔🥺 and I feel bad for his sister salsa who is missing him too.

Thanks to @maedayrescue for finding him and allowing me to adopt him (and for all of the amazing work you do) and thanks to @_howwilditwas and @justsalads for being the best fosters for him before he was mine.

Two of my dear friends got married in the most magical place last month. So grateful to have been included in such a unique experience- The best group of people gathered for the *perfectly* planned week to celebrate the union of such strong love that I was able to watch blossom from day one. It’s with the heaviest of hearts I share that Riley passed away last night. She was 19 years young and such a special creature- I’ve had her for half of my life. She was the first dog I got while living on my own and has been through endless life experiences with me. We grew up together and she taught me how to care for another life on a different level than I had ever experienced. The evolution of her personality from when she was a young, wild, feisty gal to her older, senior, slowed down, sweet, calm, self was so interesting to witness.

The past few years have been rough at times, lots of ups and downs with her but she was such a tough cookie. She had been through so many health-related issues but always bounced back. She was still pretty full of energy until these past few days. And still LOVED her food until her very last hours.

I can’t thank Dr. Connie Chiang @southpawvets enough for everything she did for Riley (and my other dogs). When Riley was still a bit feisty -around 2018, I had moved back to Silver Lake and needed to find a good vet for her. In the past some vets were not good with her and neglected her a bit because of her personality. When I found Dr. Chiang (who was at Mohawk Alley at the time) I was go grateful because she was so good with Riley. She has given me such good advice and gave Riley and my other dogs such good care. When covid started she had left Mohawk and I had to hunt her down :) - I found out she was starting a new practice with another great vet Dr. Lena Braham. I could not wait until they opened and was so relieved to know that I would be able to take my dogs to her too - especially Riley. The location where they are based out of also has a special story but I will save that for another time cause I am making this too damn long.

Extra special thanks to my mother too for always taking the best care of Riley whenever I had to leave town or needed help with my dogs.

I know Riley knew when her best pal Hermie passed away 3 years ago. I hope my sweet gal is in doggie heaven with him now🤍 taken in Los Angeles, California by @alexiscelic
