Hay lugares que son un mimo al alma, y los santuarios de animales son uno de ellos.

Donde las vidas dejan de ser explotadas para ser respetadas, donde la libertad reemplaza la cosificación y donde el amor se convierte en una nueva oportunidad.

It was honestly so hopeful to see so many vegans gathered at the @vegancampout.

I usually feel a little lonely when I talk about empathy and respect for animals, often wondering where are all the people who feel the same. But one weekend in August, I saw a huge community. Sanctuaries, brands, artists, organizations and activists, everyone offering their time, knowledge and ideas, money and energy to make the world a better place for animals!

Thanks @vegancampout for an incredible event. See you in 2027?

Honestamente, era muy esperanzador ver a tantos veganos reunidos en el Vegan Camp out.

Por lo general, me siento un poco solo cuando hablo de empatía y respeto hacia los animales, y no puedo evitar preguntarme dónde están todas las personas que sienten lo mismo. Pero un fin de semana de agosto, vi una gran comunidad. Santuarios, marcas, artistas, organizaciones y activistas, todos ofreciendo su tiempo, sus conocimientos, dinero y energía para hacer del mundo un lugar mejor para los animales.

Quizás el odio no es con los veganos, sino con la incomodidad que sienten con lo que les recordamos.

En un mundo lleno de violencia, todavía podemos elegir qué lugar queremos nosotros ocupar.

Podemos mirar hacia otro lado o detenernos a reconocer que, detrás de cada mirada, hay alguien que siente, que teme, que disfruta y que desea vivir.

Gente, conocí al mismísimo @earthlinged, y no fue en cualquier espacio, fue en medio de la magia que se respiró en la edición de los 10 años del @vegancampout. Un espacio donde la energía se sentía en el aire; charlas y talleres que nos conmovieron, música que nos hizo bailar, fiestas difíciles de llegar entre los árboles, risas que se podían escuchar desde lejos y, por supuesto, comida deliciosa.

A veces, entre la urgencia, las demandas y el dolor que genera el especismo, olvidamos que el activismo también puede ser luminoso y profundamente inspirador. Este evento fue un poderoso recordatorio de que recargar nuestra energía es una parte esencial de nuestra lucha por la liberación animal.

I met @earthlinged in the midst of the absolute magic that was breathed in the edition of the 10 years of the @vegancampout. A space where the energy was felt in the air; talks and workshops that moved us inside, music that made us dance, parties among the trees hard to find, laughter that could be heard from afar and, of course, delicious food.

Sometimes, between the urgency, the demands and the pain that speciesism generates, we forget that activism can also be luminous and deeply inspiring. This event was a powerful reminder that recharging our energy is an essential part of our fight for animal liberation.

Cada día, inocentes llegan a un lugar del que nunca saldrán con vida. Un lugar al que llamamos “matadero”, una palabra que, para muchas personas, se ha vuelto parte de la rutina.

Pero para ellas no hay nada cotidiano. Llegan aterradas, reducidas a un número, privadas de toda posibilidad de escapar. Después de una vida de explotación, son descargadas para dejar de ser individuos y convertirse en un producto más del mercado.

Para quienes viajan en esos camiones, llegamos tarde. Sin embargo, todavía podemos llegar a tiempo para otras vidas. Y esa es la razón por la que seguimos.

Las vigilias existen para mirar de frente una realidad que suele permanecer oculta. Para darles un rostro a quienes el sistema intenta volver invisibles.

Ser vegano significa dejar de financiar esta indiferencia violenta. Ser antiespecista significa, además, alzar la voz, generar conciencia y trabajar para que llegue el día en que ningún animal tenga que recorrer este último trayecto.

La libertad no debería ser un privilegio.

Sin embargo, hay animales que jamás han conocido otra cosa que paredes y barrotes implacables, que nacieron en cautiverio o que fueron llevados a estos espacios egoístas.

Enfrentando la nostalgia de quien ha olvidado -o nunca ha conocido- qué significa ser libre.

Si tanto defendemos nuestra propia libertad y si nos indignamos ante cualquier cadena que intente limitarla, ¿por qué seguimos aceptando con indiferencia que se la arrebaten a seres inocentes? taken in Rio Negro, Argentina by @alexisedsoto

Last Friday, June 19th, I traveled to be present at a new cow vigil.

Each of the actions that we activists carry out reminds us of those who haven’t yet been able to get out of this model of species violence, but also drives us to continue fighting so that all animals are respected like those that today find refuge in sanctuaries and rescue spaces.

On this occasion, the trucks didn’t stop to allow the register of what was happening, something that unfortunately isn’t surprising. This system is based, to a large extent, on the invisibilization of the sentient beings that are behind what society has normalized. But that invisibility is not absolute: every vigil, every testimony and every record seeks to break that veil.

Because we aren’t going to stop being present. For them and for every victim of the animal exploitation system, we will continue to be witnesses. We will amplify their voices, denounce injustice and continue to invite society to look head-on, to make the connection and recognize animals as individuals with an interest in living, being at peace and not being exploited.

Witnessing is, in essence, a form of resistance to the imposed silence. It’s to remember, again and again, that behind each caravan there’s someone who didn’t choose that destination.

Todos hablan de justicia, hasta que “los pesados de los veganos” les hablamos de liberación animal. Todos hablan de derechos, pero les resulta muy fácil ver otros cuerpos como objetos.
