I’m Alexis, a wigmaker first and always. I’ve been knotting lace and making wigs since 2009, and what keeps me inspired is how one simple knot can change everything. Before ➝ After lace repair ✨

What started as a rip and hole in the lace didn’t mean the end of this piece.

Before:
-ripped
-had a prominent hole that was near the hairline and within the parting space
-compromised lace that would have inevitably ripped or turned into a hole

After:
✔️ a seamless patch of blended lace covering the hole
✔️ reinforced preventing further damage
✔️ hair matched in texture, length, and color, knotted to perfection

With proper mending, reinforcement, and re-knotting, the structure and wearability were restored so the lace can be worn confidently again.

Starting with planning this repair with The Wigmaker’s Essential Project Planner, every detail and organized and thought through. This repair will need a new closure, so a custom closure will be created and sent back to the client for a fitting before everything is finalized. Stay tuned to see the results!

Before and After: Mend + Fill Lace Repair ✨

This medium topper came in with a few issues that were starting to affect both the look and the wear.

The lace edges were ripped and worn down, and there was an area where the wrong adhesive had been used. It left a hard white spot, trapping the hair in place, and the glue was visible throughout that section. Since that type of buildup can’t be safely removed without causing more damage, the best option was to replace the compromised area completely.

For this repair, I:
• Matched the lace type
• Aligned the grain correctly (this part really matters)
• Whip stitched the new section
• Reinforced the lace along the edges for added strength
• Matched the hair type, length, and color
• Re-knotted everything by hand to mimic the original pattern and density

The goal is always for the repair to look natural, move naturally, and hold up over time.
