Last week I hiked the Salkantay Trek in Peru. It was not easy.

The first half I was faced with the disadvantage of gasping for air due to the altitude. It was hard for me to breathe which made a demanding hike even more strenuous.

After the first day I didn’t think I was going to make it to the top on my own but I decided to push through and proud to say that I made it.

I thought after that it would be smooth sailing from there but as we got to the rainforest it posed its own hurdles, the heat.

The last day I was on the verge of heat exhaustion from the hot sun shining down on us with a 12 uv index. I pushed through this discomfort as well and got through the entire trek.

I had blisters, burns, bug bites, bruises, sore muscles and exhaustion but I’m proud to say I completed the journey despite these obstacles.
