thanks to everyone who helped sell out my book release for Talking to My Father’s Ghost at @strandbookstore last month! doing a live reading with my mom and brother was a blast, @adamtots did a great job moderating and i’m forever grateful to my publisher @chroniclebooks for helping me put out my best, most personal work yet.
since then, i’ve gotten a lot of great reception for Talking to My Father's Ghost. the reviews have been good, i’ve been on a bunch of podcasts and i’ve gotten some really nice emails from readers who are both longtime fans and also just stumbled upon the book. thanks, everybody!
have you read the Talking to My Father’s Ghost yet? what’d you think? i’d love to hear what your thoughts in the comments (…and on amazon/goodreads ;) )

in honor of today's new #pokemon champions regulation m-c update, here are some teams of mine and @angelicaalzona from earlier in the summer

scroll down each caption for 🤓The Build🤓

Alex’s Soft Trick Room Singles Team
- Racecar (Farigiraf) sets up Trick Room, reversing the speed of all players on the field. If there’s a good type matchup, I’ll keep her on the field but I’ll usually switch her out. She’s holding a Mental Herb in case anyone tries some funny stuff by using Taunt.
- Golurk (Mega Golurk) is usually too slow to utilize its crazy high Attack stat but under Trick Room, it’s awesome. Ground/Ghost is also a cool type combo, don’t you think?
- LastRespect (Basulegion) is an ugly design and meta-slop but he was useful for learning about the competitive scene. He’s holding Choice Scarf, an item that gives you 1.5x speed in exchange for locking you into one move and in LastRespect’s case, that move is Last Respects. By the time he comes out, Trick Room has expired and he can clean up whatever's left (unless the opponent has a Normal or Dark type 🙃)

Angie’s “Oops All Baddies” Singles Team
- Mega Froslass casts Snow weather and then uses Aurora Veil, boosting the defenses of her whole team.
- Dasha (Sneasler) is fast and hits hard. She’ll usually go for Close Combat, which will lower her own defense but will immediately be negated by her held item, White Herb, which will then activate her Unburden ability, doubling her speed when she no longer has a held item.
- Meowscarada is similar to Sneasler in that he’s fast, strong and brittle. He holds Focus Sash to ensure he doesn’t go down in one hit.

Angie’s July Doubles Team
- Cheeky Sh*t (Whimsicott) is there to just set up the field to make the opponents life awful.
- Sneasler keeps doing Sneasler shit. Fake Out, Dire Claw… yada yada yada.
- Ana (Mega Delphox) is there to spam Heat Wave…
- Ragebait (Annihilape) is there to use his signature move, Rage Fist, which increases in power every time the user has been attacked.
- Group Chat (Maushold) is pretty much just support for Ragebait, using a low-power multi-hit attack purely to boost Rage Fist.
- FLINCH!! (Aerodactyl) was only briefly on the team, settin by @alexkrokus
