Part 22 of Things I learned as a Stylist when I lived in NYC. Probably should have been taught this growing up but better late than never! To avoid makeup transferring all over your beautiful white shirt, spray hairspray along on the collar of said shirt (really, any collared shirt that would be touching your neck where makeup may have blended). This will prevent the makeup from going on the shirt! Nothing gives me the ick more than when you have a dirty collar of makeup. Or when you’re trying clothes on in a store and the clothing piece has makeup already on it 🤢 Follow @alexlambstyle for all things style - you won’t regret it, you’ll just be better dressed. #fashionhacks #stylisttips #minimalstyle by @alexlambstyle
Things I learned as a stylist when I lived in #NYC. Part 32. In order to maximize your outfit options, you need to curate your closet with staple pieces. Styles that you love and are versatile enough to be worn in multiple ways make for the best closet and the best outfits! Not sure how? Follow @alexlambstyle for more tips. You won’t regret it. Things I learned as a stylist when I lived in NYC. Part 95 If you struggle with putting together outfits, take 5 minutes to find an outfit formula that works for you. If your go-to outfit is a pair of jeans and a tee shirt or sweater, make that your base outfit. Then you can add layers like a blazer or belt, accessories like fun jewelry or also swap out different shoes to completely style the look. Your look isn’t complete until you’re out the door so make sure your hair and makeup are done, it makes a difference! And when in doubt always layer. Follow for more styling tips. If you’re looking for shopping inspiration or my favorite wardrobe essentials, comment anything. They’re also linked on my @shopmy for ease! But we love a comment!! If you struggle with what shoes to wear with what jeans, just know we’re not doing loafers with a wide leg baggy denim. Instead, stick with a slimmer, straight leg jean or trouser pant that hits right around where your ankle bone meets your foot. I find it the most flattering and versatile for different shoes including flats, heels and an ankle boot! It’s a much cleaner, chic look and helps keep your outfits looking effortlessly elevated at all times. Save for what to wear inspiration and fall outfit ideas! #stylingtips #whattowear #fashionhacks by @alexlambstyle

When you’re getting dressed you have to think about a focal point in your look. Where will the eye be drawn to? What breaks up the individual pieces to create the whole picture? If there’s no clear definition in your outfit, your look can read flat, un styled and kind of boring.
