Echoes of Čiurlionis - Memories of concerts in Druskininkai, Kaunas, Šilutė and Vilnus with dear friend @kkasparas2

Through four concerts across Lithuania we presented a program dedicated to celebrating the piano works of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, one of Lithuania’s most iconic cultural figures. Kasparas performed a selection of 9 Čiurlionis’s piano preludes, followed by 9 newly composed electroacoustic responses by myself. Each electro-acoustic piece is completely new, but directly influenced by the preceding prelude - reflecting, transforming, or extending the sonic world.

Many thanks go to the Lithuanian Council for Culture for allowing this project to happen and to TVP Wilno for interviewing us for their viewers and giving people an insight to our project.

If interested in listening to more, the whole concert can be found at this link on YouTube with time stamps for each prelude/response: https://youtu.be/cWtdXyaLdUY?is=syR_PXROpjnC253a taken in Lithuania by @thefluxensemble

Our little project Čiurlionis Echoes comes to an end. It was fun to work with composer @alexpapp_25 after so many years of being friends and flatmates, and to bring his creativity to Lithuania. Classical music & electronics mix proves to be a great discovery for many - and if you haven’t experienced anything like this yet, this is your sign to do it 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

As it is World Cup season and England were so good last night, here is ‘Play to the Whistle’ performed by the brilliant @riotensemble conducted by @aaronhnahum in May. This concert brought an end to the RIOT AML scheme, which I have been so lucky and grateful to have been a part of - an experience that has certainly has massively helped me develop as a musician and as a person 💙💙

If you fancy seeing some referee whistles, toy vuvuzelas and kazoos, the link to the whole recording of the piece can be found here on my YouTube: https://youtu.be/uYGaz1MmiIU?is=mSWybUclbi9-ayJr

And as for England… ffs bring it home lads by @thefluxensemble

An extract of my piece Cosmic Radiations, performed at David Josefowitz Recital Hall on the 6th of May 2026, during 'The Sense of Place' festival. You can listen to it on Youtube here

rubendoda.com/cosmic-radiations

Cosmic Radiations is a sonic rendering of the cosmic microwave background, which is the residual electromagnetic field from the very beginning of our universe, a kind of a fossil echo of the big bang. It is all around us, equally spread everywhere; it is part of us and we are part of it. Composing this piece was for me an attempt to trace back our common space to the very birth of time and sound, trying to address unanswerable questions: what is this place where we all are? What does it mean to belong to a place when each and every one of us belongs to the same energy and to the same origin?

Conducted by @alexpapp_25 ; performers @violinistagatha on violin, @simon._.song on viola, @ngwnyy on double bass, @saurabh_shivakumar on electric guitar, @luke_jonesy956 on bassoon, @jacobjordan.music on bass clarinet, @haydenmiller88 on piano and synth, @longguozhi on vibraphone.
Thank you very much @edmundfinnis and all the others involved @aj.mkn @_courtneyjcousins_ @felixpenna.music @peter_hughes5396 taken in London, England by @thefluxensemble
