💚💚💚

After three extraordinary years, we have completed the first iteration of our mentorship residency with the Royal Academy of Music.

What began as an idea grew into five ambitious projects, fourteen new works, a BBC Radio 3 broadcast, lasting artistic collaborations, and (perhaps most excitingly) the emergence of a new ensemble founded by the mentees themselves. @thefluxensemble

We’ve put together a page looking back at the journey, sharing what we learned, and reflecting on how this programme has shaped the next generation of composers and performers. We’re also delighted that the Royal Academy of Music will continue and expand the scheme for a second cycle.

Thank you to the Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne, the Royal Academy of Music, our brilliant Riot mentors, the various guest artists, and above all our wonderful mentees for making this such a special first run!

We are HUGELY delighted to say that we will continue this relationship with @royalacademyofmusic from 2027 ❤️‍🔥 More details about that in the autumn!

Such a wonderful evening on Monday with a super fun send off for the first cohort of our @royalacademyofmusic mentorship. Performance mentees side-by-side with us for works from our three composition mentees alongside Hans Abrahamsen’s Winternacht and the WP of @philcashian House of Rumours.

We couldn’t be prouder of nine students that we spent the last three years with. What a journey and so heartwarming to see them having become friends and colleagues, and even building their own new music group (@thefluxensemble).

Here is to the next generation of new music makers 🥂 We can’t wait to share with you all what’s next - soon!

eli stine, ‘lapse’ for cello and electronics 🩶

thank you to @thefluxensemble for giving me the space to perform the world premiere of this fantastic piece !!

a work reflective of the seasons of the year and the passage of time, it draws on field recordings of flora and fauna. each section represents a different time of year, with the cello following these seasonal shifts.

this clip hears a tempestuous autumn flow into the stillness of winter 🍁❄️

huge thanks to @eli_stine for writing this beautiful piece for me and i hope to play it again very soon !!!! xxxx

A few things from the last couple of months before I start off on a whole new adventure of projects, concerts and compositions!

1-3. Proms in Bristol with @thebreathmusic and @paraorchestra 💫 captured by @eljaybriss

4. Premiering excerpts from 'Pathological Dancer', my new solo harp work, premiering Pulsar by @naturally_isaac and having the privilege to hear @ra_ch._.ael nail my solo vocal piece 'My Mummy was Beautiful' once again at the Academy. 💎 Videos to come soon!

5+6. Southbank's turn to witness Paraorchestra's Virtuous Circle with music by the incredible @vibransoliver including an ominous choir moment captured beautifully by @discobobulator

7. Saariaho's Lichtbogen with @thefluxensemble paired with two works by @composer_shin_kim - an utter joy, and a great excuse for two harps.

8. @pennyclflute and I had the pleasure of performing at St Marylebone Parish Church as part of Wigmore Hall's Music for the Moment series. Videos will follow, as will some exciting upcoming projects together!

9. Back to Academy again for my final year 🎓
