Hi everyone,

We wanted to share another update about Tio Gustavo.

After more than four days without hearing from him, and after his A-number disappeared from the ICE detainee locator, we finally received a call. Tio has been extradited from the United States and taken to Mexico.

But what happened next left our family heartbroken and angry.

Tio was detained here in Santa Clarita, California, then transferred to El Paso, Texas. Instead of being returned through Juarez, just minutes from where he was being held and a much easier route back to his family, he was dropped off at the Mexico-Guatemala border, far away from home.

We cannot understand why taxpayer dollars were spent transporting him so far away, only to leave him in a place where he has no family, no support system, and no clear way home. It feels like an unnecessary waste of resources that has made an already devastating situation even harder.

Because Tio was originally abducted without any identification on him, he arrived in Mexico with no way to prove who he is leaving him almost stranded.

Your donations are helping us get him a hotel, food, and other basic necessities. We’ve also asked Tio to offer a room to anyone else who was left there with nowhere to go.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an update about Tio Gustavo, because our family is once again left not knowing where he is.

After more than 36 hours of searching Monday into Tuesday, we finally located the detention center where he was being held. @bioleta.herrera , his niece, and I visited him Friday, more than an hour and a half from home.

Tio told us masked men approached him while he was getting his usual morning coffee and asked whether he had papers. He said six Chevy Tahoes were filled with detainees within 45 minutes. Over the next 36 hours, he was moved through four different facilities.

When we told him how many people had shared his story and donated, he cried. He truly did not know whether we would be able to find him without his A-number, and he asked us to thank everyone who has supported him.

Late Friday night, Tio called to say he was being transferred. The call ended before we could ask where. The online system still shows him at the same facility, but staff told us he is no longer there and refused to tell us where he was taken.

Once again, we do not know where our loved one is.

Thank you all that have donated, shared, and have helped. Please continue sharing Tio’s story. Donations will help him and his wife with transportation, housing, food, and rebuilding their lives in Mexico.

Hi everyone,
It’s rare that I make personal posts like this, but my family is going through something incredibly difficult, and I wanted to share Tío Gustavo’s story.
Earlier this week, ICE agents were conducting enforcement operations in nearby communities here in Santa Clarita, CA.
While on his way to work, my partner’s uncle, Gustavo (Tio) Canchola Juarez, was abducted by ICE after stopping for his usual morning coffee. For hours, our family didn’t know where he was or it he was safe. We later learned he had been taken into ICE custody.
He is now facing deportation, and our family is doing everything we can to make sure he is safely reunited with his wife and able to rebuild their lives in Mexico.
It isn’t easy for me to ask for help, especially in such a public way. If you’re able to donate or even just share this fundraiser, it would mean the world to our family. The funds will help cover transportation, temporary housing, food, and other essential expenses as To Gustavo and his wife begin this next chapter together. Our hope is to gain enough donations to assist another family close to ours who were also effected by this terrible tragedy.

This is my manifesto of Mayhem. This year, @ladygaga you built US, your little monsters, an opera house in the desert. In our time of Mayhem, over the last year, you shared your love and your joy every night on tour. I’ve been lucky enough to see you at Coachella, Seattle, and Dallas this year. Oh and not to forget, @netflix Tudum. @ladygaga you’ve given me the strength to get up and move forward. As you said best, “I don’t wanna feel, I don’t wanna cry, so I’m just gonna dance until I feel alright.” I think that line encompasses my emotion and feelings towards Mayhem. In a time where I didn’t want to feel life, and when I was tired of crying, I just danced to #mayhem until I felt alright. As we reach the death of Mayhem, I cherish the moments we spent together in the same room. I feel so loved, accepted, and wanted. You shared your deepest parts of you through your music, and we lived our deepest parts of ourselves with you. Though I wasn’t able to hand you the jacket I made for you in Dallas, I will never forget the incredible moments we shared. Thank you @calll.meluca for putting up with my constant begging to see @ladygaga one more time (even though now one more time happed three times over). @michaeldameski, thank you for sharing your talent every night on stage, it’s been so great to see you live. And @ladygaga and Michael Polanski, thank you for bringing us Mayhem. You’ve been here for us for the better part of 20 years, we’ll be there 20 or more. @ladygaga you finally sang Alejandro to me. When you looked out and said, “I’m looking for somebody I love. Someone in the audience. Alejandro, is that you?” — I swear my soul left my body. For years I joked you wrote that song about me… now I’m not so sure it was a joke. Gaga at Coachella was everything. A spiritual experience. An exorcism. A reunion. A dream.
