〰️Bayt Nomade, Gigaro〰️

Statuesque amongst the maquis, vineyards and wild shores of Gigaro, Bayt Nomade is first and foremost a family home. Its womb-y earthen walls hold a lifetime of objects with provenance, gathered and layered - storied talismans, totems, votos and artifacts brought home from a far elsewhere.

Drawing from earthen Berber architecture, its adobe-like forms belong to a wider vocabulary of earth and sun while nodding to O’Keeffe’s New Mexico, and give the house a curious sense of belonging to several landscapes at once.

This little craftsmanship portal was a total delight to shoot.

When you live landlocked by high mountains, water becomes an essential part of life. Rivers become ritual in summer, nature the temple.

I had this ‘France - Wild Swimming’ book years ago and I would leaf through the pages while living in London, soul-craving a life where communion with the wild was daily practice. Seven years on, daily awe & an ease of gratitude & wonder ripple through without effort. It has not always been an easy ride, thank goodness for that.

I found my mini Canada in Europe, and have never felt more at home than returning to natural rhythms of the elemental.
