Dear Mama, there are no words to describe what I feel. All I can really say is… you’re appreciated.

At just 5 years old, you got polio. One of your legs was permanently paralyzed, it could’ve been worse. You spent months in the hospital, had surgery after surgery, and your life was just getting started.

But you never let that define you.

You worked. You enjoyed life. You got married. You raised four tough kids. You walked us to school and back every day. You became a citizen. You went to beauty school. You opened your own salon. And somehow, through it all, you were still an amazing wife and mom.

You showed us what resilience looks like, and what a true fighter looks like.

We talk. We argue. We laugh. We cry. But it’s love. And if there’s one thing I inherited from you, it’s your stubbornness. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Watching you taught me that progress isn’t always about having the easiest path. Sometimes it’s just about refusing to quit.

That’s something I carry with me every day.
And it’s one of the reasons I refuse to give up on building the life I want. Not because it’s easy, but because you showed me that some things are worth fighting for. And one of my biggest dreams is to buy you a house again one day.
