1. I’m building a brand that requires me to be seen, but being perceived still scares me.😭 2. I still ask people what they think about my creative ideas before I trust myself. Sometimes I genuinely want feedback. 3. I always feel like I’m running out of time. I always think about what I thought I should’ve had by now. But I’m trusting God’s will, not my will. 4. You will go far with a team, but delegating is hard for me. I’m the oldest daughter, super independent and very particular. Im learning that I cant do everything myself. 5. I’m ambitious as hell, but my perfectionism really holds me back. I’ll overthink a small task or detail for days because it doesn’t feel “ready”. I really value excellence. 6. When I’m locked in, I’m LOCKED in. I’ll forget to eat, barely sleep and disappear on everybody. Then I’m shocked when I burn out lol. 7. I’m in the military and building a fashion brand at the same time. People see the discipline and ambition, but they don’t always see how much I doubt myself behind the scenes. 8. I struggle to rest without feeling guilty. Even when I’m tired, my brain is still going through everything I “should” be doing. im not trying to be perfect, Im just learning, growing, and walking in faith step by step. This year’s Met Gala theme—Superfine: Tailoring Black Style —might just be my favorite ever because of the celebration of black dandyism. A “dandy” is someone who places particular importance on elegance, refinement, and style as a form of self-expression. (which is how I describe my style.) But for Black dandies, it’s deeper than fashion—it’s elevation, creativity, and a celebration of black excellence. It’s an opportunity to display your identity and self expression without saying a word. To be a Black dandy today is to reclaim space, especially where you’re uninvited. It’s to defy stereotypes, rewrite narratives, and show up seen. It’s boldness. Softness. Opulence. Intellect. Levitation.
