What’s the point of always conquering mountains if you never stop & sit to enjoy and admire them… Don’t just chase the summits but experience the mountains, the views, the quiet moments, the little discoveries and the lessons along the journey because the summit is not the whole story

Tip of an iceberg for Serala Peak loop at Wolkberg Wilderness Area in Ga-Molepo is that: there are no bridges, no manicured trails… just a raw, untamed South African backcountry trail

So to summit the Mighty Serala Peak at 2050m above sea level you first have to pay your dues in the Mohlapitse River gorge with approximately 8 to 10 major river crossings on the first day, which means your boots will stay soaked, your trekking poles become your best friend and your grit gets tested before the real climbing even begins😩

Save this for your next adventure crew and please tell them to leave the cotton socks at home🧦💦😂

…And just like that the mountains have called me back again, not for the kilometres, not for the strava stats, not for summiting another high peak and neither for the content but for the Quietness and Peacefulness I find along the journey🥾🥾🎒⛰️🌳

The mountains are my sanctuary, nature is my classroom, every trail is another life lesson and the more I explore these trails the more I learn and realise how much I still don’t know

This is one of the trails that taught me how much I still have to learn about trees. Looking at these long and exposed roots made me question how actually tall are these tree and how far their roots can travel beneath and across the rocky mountain

What fascinated me the most is how these trees can establish itself in what appears to be an impossible place because their roots follow crevices in search of moisture and nutrients, anchoring themselves to the rocky surface and as the roots grow thicker, they can exert pressure on cracks and gradually widen them.

Nature doesn’t wait for perfect conditions, it adapts to any conditions available 🌳🪾🌲🌴

Happy Tall Tree(roots) Tursday

Look beyond the trail, there’s so much beauty in the details.

Sometimes you don’t need to walk further to experience more but you just need to slow down, pause, look closer, listen carefully and admire the beauty of nature unfolding around you because hiking is not always about reaching the summit, sometimes it’s about noticing the beauty along the way

HIKE FROM WITHIN

I go into the wild because I feel the earth beneath my feet, the wind against my skin, the kind of peace that no camera can fully capture and ofcourse because I feel alive out here 🥾🥾🎒⛰️🌊

Some people enjoy life through travelling, others through music, food or the comfort of their homes, Me? Give me a trail, a mountain, a forest, a little adventure and allow me & my photography skills...its all I need not because life is perfect but because it reminds me how beautiful it is, even when things aren’t that good. The uphill battles, the unexpected views, the quiet moments and even the tired legs all become part of the story

I’m not just about climbing mountains but I’m making the most out of the life I’ve been given🥾⛰️

Am I seeing things or is it just my imagination? 👀🪨😂
These rocks have been staring at me the entire trail like they have something to say, so I stopped, looked them straight in the eyes, had a little conversation and somehow ended up kissing it 😂🤣🙈

The mountains are really getting to me & my common sense has been deactivated by nature😜😜😂
