This play came from a scared, angry, hopeless place inside me, and was created to simultaneously empathize with and to challenge that hopelessness. Its been an honor to see @sydneyadennison and our amazing cast bring it to life, and you’d be SO lucky to see it for yourself 😘 taken in Theaterlab by @algroppi

mourning summer, welcoming fall. So thankful to everyone that showed up for Dogs, for every member of our cast, crew and production team, for every audience member that pulled me aside after to tell me what the show meant to them. For everyone that said it made them believe in the power of theater again. Thankful for friends that need help moving (yes i mean it), for oversaturated sunsets, friends that find a last minute hardcore show to go to when the music festival gets canceled ‘cause of the fucking nor’easter, for graffiti in bar bathrooms, for friends that invite you to see their work (and watch them become a doctor!!! congratulations again Emine!!). Thankful for a community that trusts you to show up for them and shows up in return.

Head to the second location of Fish Cheeks, located in Williamsburg, for what you KNOW is gonna be incredible Thai food. There are some Williamsburg-exclusive dishes, so even if you've been to the location in Noho, you won't be bored here!

7:00pm: Boys Will Be Dogs, Brooklyn Art Haus, 24 Marcy Ave.
Then head over to the still-pretty-new Brooklyn Art Haus for Kitchen Sink Theatre Company's fully staged production of Boys Will Be Dogs! Sixteen-year-old Logan has a lot going for him––his first girlfriend, big wins on the lacrosse field, a likely scholarship to Yale––but when mounting pressures lead him to seek guidance in the alt-right manosphere, the adults in his life are all too busy to notice. As his elder sister, her spouse, and their roommate navigate shared secrets and a particularly violent neighborhood dog named Cupcake, Logan’s mentality deteriorates in the foreground, explored in an abstracted space called “the turf.” When his radicalization reaches a boiling point, who will be able––and willing––to help him? A play about what makes a good dog go bad, and whether or not they can learn new tricks. This is one of the shows we're excited for this month!

After the show, head to Kinda Nice for a perfect end to your great night out! This is the perfect spot for hanging out and talking about the show (and grabbing a snack or two, multiple drinks, and maybe making a new friend!).

reminding the algo I’m hot to boost engagement on the stuff i actually care about, baddies can relate 😌✨

I’ve been writing for fun for as long as I can remember, but this is the show that made me a writer - the first in years that I NEEDED to be seen and understood. Allowing myself to pursue its production and to advocate for its worth opened up SUCH a well of confidence and creativity for me, and I probably wouldn’t have written any of the other projects I’ve produced in the last few years without it. Truly my eldest child (unless I ever end up finishing the depressing autobiographical piece I tried to put up in college but that should probably never see the light of day).

Our cast, directors and designers have been working their ASSES off, and with a little under a month til opening we’re already in such great shape!! Check out some of their beautiful faces over on @kitchensinktheatrecompany ‘s page. Their talent, hard work and intelligence astound me every rehearsal.
