Last night was Military Appreciation Night at @gosquirrels, honoring military families who have lost someone they love.

With this year marking 20 years since my dad passed away, it felt like the perfect night to remember him. @tapsorg has supported so many families like mine, and I’m incredibly grateful for the community they continue to provide.

Sweet 2006 Ariel had no idea what was coming just months after graduating 8th grade.

20 years ago today, we got the call that changed our lives forever. My dad had passed away.

He was the most amazing guy. Everyone who knew him says the same thing. He was the dad who pulled us on inner tubes at the beach, coached our sports teams, and sent postcards home when he was deployed. He always showed up with flowers on birthdays and holidays. Black Friday wasn’t about shopping in our house. It was the day the Christmas lights went up. He was everything a husband and a father should be.

20 years is a long time. High school graduations. College graduations. Moves. Vacations. Family milestones where he’s been missing. But I haven’t gone through any of it alone.

Learning how to grieve is one of the hardest things a person will ever do. Kidz and Grief didn’t just teach me how to grieve in a healthy way. It gave me a family. People I’ve grown up with. People who have walked through life with me ever since.

And to my best friends who aren’t part of that world but have stood right beside me anyway, showing up, listening, loving me through it all, this is for you too. I love you and I don’t take you for granted, ever.

Day date with myself! I went to the @richmondgreekfestival!! It was so good! The food was fresh. It was the perfect day. It was crowded, but in the best way possible. Mini day dates with myself help me fall more in love with Richmond and myself.

@mudgirlrun was one for the books! There was nothing more fun than just laughing and being covered in mud now the bruises and road rash will heal. But the memories are going to last forever.

I love @supperclubmarket . They have everything and the butcher there is AMAZING! You can caught me there right when they open Saturday morning. The ground brisket, short rib, chuck ground beef 10/10. The blackened chicken is a staple for my meal prep each week then I treat myself to different slices of steak and different seasonings. I always have a pound frozen in case I can’t get there.

I haven’t turned into a foodie and fallen in love with Midlothian and Richmond.

We are so back!! I love baking with Tina (my starter). With the warmer weather coming up, I so excited to start baking with roasted veggies that I get from the farmers market. I love a good sweet sourdough too! Are there any good recipes I should try?

2 years at KW.

A lot of change, a lot of growth, and a lot that happened behind the scenes this year.

The best advice I got last year that stuck with me
Say less and let them wonder what you know. Say too much and you show what you don’t.

Still learning how to trust myself and not feel like I have to prove something all the time.
