These days I usually wing it and knit by #vibes, but following someone else’s pattern is a fun way to learn new techniques. Learning quite a bit from making the #zippersweater by @le_pull_le_pull , nearly finished by @ali.knits.now

Still knitting, just less and in the in-betweens 🚘🚂✈️

Life’s been busy but knitting grounds me through each adventure. 🤍 by @ali.knits.now

Look what the cat dragged in… 🎶 I’m in my 80s hair band era.👩‍🎤✨

Still knitting, just not as frequently at the moment. I’ve been focusing on other art projects, traveling, and a new job, but now I’m getting the itch to make some new pieces again. 🙃

Happy New Year! 🪩🎉

Do you have any intentions or goals you’re hoping to achieve this year? I don’t like to set rigid resolutions, but these are intentions I have in mind moving forward. This year I’m also manifesting 2023 to be my year of embodying JOY. Give me that big, bold prime number energy, baby! 🥳👯‍♀️🎉

Hello, hiiii! It’s been one full year of knitting and I’m in celebration mode. I picked up knitting last winter to keep my hands busy after surgery, little did I know I’d love it so! 🥳

This year I discovered that knitting can actually be a super social activity! I took my knitting nearly everywhere in 2022 and because of it I had conversations on park benches, planes, the subway, and everywhere in between. I made new friends, deepened connections, and experienced the joy of strangers approaching me to share their memories of loved ones and knitting, open and unprompted. Each piece I made is stitched with parts of these places and people and stories, and I’ll treasure them a little extra for it.

Knitting is fun and play and art and community, and I’m here for alllllll of it in 2023! Thank you for being a part of it!

With gratitude (and happy new year!), 🪩🎉🕺

In 2022 I learned how to knit and I’m so thankful I did! From figuring out how to make my first stitch via Professor Youtube to finishing my first self-drafted pattern in November, I’ve learned so much and had a blast! I also discovered this absolutely amazing online community of slow fashion makers, pattern designers, and indie dyers, which has made my heart so full. I’ve learned so much from y’all! Here’s to another year of creating! 🥂

Anddddd we have a self-drafted piece! I wanted to make a replica of the Vivienne Westwood mohair sweater Johnny Rotten wore on the Bill Grundy show and here it is! To be perfectly honest, I meant to finish this for Halloween but I also started it that week so oops I was Bob Ross instead 🤷‍♀️🎃

It was so freeing to wing it when creating this piece and I learned a ton. One of the biggest lessons is to take a few minutes to do some quick math when doing sleeves to save reworking headaches. I did this for the collar but got a little too free on the sleeves, which meant I had to redo them a couple times. 🫣😅 Still had a blast!

What do ya think? Christmas day marks one year of knitting for me, I’m excited to use what I learned on this project to create freestyle pieces and original designs in the new year!
