I’ve always been a front-row dancer. And yes, part of that is because… I’m 5’1”. We work with what we’ve got.

But honestly? It’s the best spot in the room.

You see every detail.
You don’t see anyone else to compare yourself to (goodbye, comparison spiral).
And the real kicker? You can’t rely on the person in front of you, because there isn’t one. It’s just you and your memory.

No hiding. No following. Just confidence and commitment.

Front row isn’t about ego… it’s about growth. And also survival when you’re vertically challenged. 😌

Teaching this age always brings me back to how I felt when I was 8 years old in my dance classes. The wonder, the excitement, the passion, it all felt so real and new.

What I remember most wasn’t the dancing, it was my teachers. I remember their reactions and their words. I remember how good it felt to be complimented and how something as small as “that’s it, Ali!” Made the whole 45 minute conditioning worth it. This age is so impressionable. All while it’s such an important age for learning important technique and class etiquette, it’s also their chosen place for release and fun.

I’m blessed to stand in front of a room of 20 kiddos who LOVE to be here and who chose technique class over going to the pool on these summer days.

The backstage nerves. The hype talks. The inside jokes. The deep breaths before walking on stage. The moments where I remind them that no trophy, score, or placement will ever matter more than the way dancing makes them feel and the memories they’re making right now.

Years from now, they probably won’t remember every step. But they’ll remember how they felt in moments like this.

The littles are putting in work, too! Andi came into her very first private lesson wanting to focus on her flexibility and leg extensions.
