Me and My Headphones
I wear my headphones in public,
not always for music,
but sometimes for silence.
I pretend
I cannot hear the child crying
for the thing his little heart desires,
while his parents stand quietly,
counting what they cannot afford.
I pretend
I cannot hear the sorrow
of the person sitting beside his unsold fruits,
watching the day pass
with empty hands and tired hope.
I pretend
I cannot hear the anger in voices,
the walls people build between each other,
the hatred that grows
where understanding should live.
But most of all,
I pretend
I cannot hear myself.
The endless noise inside my head,
the storms I never speak of,
the questions without answers,
the memories that return
when the world becomes quiet.
So I wear my headphones,
not to escape the world,
but to escape the sound
of everything I cannot fix—
and sometimes,
to escape the overthinking
that keeps circling around a person,
a name,
a thought I cannot let go.

یاد
ایک بوڑھا شخص
چارپائی پر پڑا
سارا دن
خلا میں نہ جانے کیا ڈھونڈتا رہتا ہے.

جو کبھی اپنے کہلاتے تھے،
اس سے دور جا چکے ہیں
اور دوست
اب اس کا دروازہ نہیں کھٹکھٹاتے.

اس کی یادداشت کو
الزائمر کی دیمک لگ گئی ہے،
جو دھیرے دھیرے
اس کے گزرے دن،
مانوس آوازیں
اور اپنوں کے چہرے
چاٹتی جا رہی ہے.

مگر
ایک چہرہ اب بھی باقی ہے
دھند میں جلتے
آخری چراغ کی طرح.

وہ شخص
جس نے کبھی اسے ٹھکرا دیا تھا،
آج بھی اس کی یاد کے
سب سے محفوظ گوشے میں زندہ ہے.

بوڑھے کو موت سے خوف نہیں،
خوف صرف یہ ہے
کہ کہیں وہ دیمک
اس آخری چہرے تک نہ پہنچ جائے.

وہ چاہتا ہے
زندگی کی آخری سانس تک
اسے اپنی آنکھوں میں محفوظ رکھے،
اس کی آواز کو
اپنے اندر زندہ رکھے.

لیکن کیا وہ
اپنی یادوں کو چاٹتی ہوئی
اس دیمک سے جیت پائے گا؟

یا زندگی ختم ہونے سے پہلے
ایک بار پھر ٹھکرا دیا جائے گا

پہلی بار
اس شخص کے ہاتھوں،
اور اس بار
اپنی ہی یادداشت کے ہاتھوں؟
