Allow me to reintroduce myself 🫶🏽

My name is Ali. I’m the kind of person that gets really passionate about how I can grow & help other people. I love finding creative ways to solve problems & I could talk about behavior change, holistic health, & overall wellness for hours 🌅

I’ve been working on creating something that integrates my unique experiences & skill sets with what drives me. & I’m so proud to share this transition to focus on health & wellness coaching.

Full time, I work as a BCBA with families & kids with developmental disabilities. I’ve also been working part time as a Primal Movement Coach. & while I’ll continue those roles, what I’m sharing now is the next step into what feels most aligned with me & my own personal mission.

I hope you’ll stick around 🧡✨ by @ali_kathryn

Two things can be true at once 🫶🏽🌊✨

We can be grateful for the journey & still want the next chapter. We can be ready for growth & still need to slow down. We can feel love & anger, joy & grief, certainty & doubt.

But maybe that’s part of what makes being human so extraordinary. Maybe we don’t have to choose one or the other. Maybe we can let both be true 🧡 by @ali_kathryn

Starting a new habit doesn’t have to be overwhelming 🫶🏽

A few things I’d consider before trying to change a behavior:

✨ Connect it to your values
What makes this important to YOU? Does it align with who you want to be & the life you want to live? Is it a priority right now?

✨ Start with one behavior
Get specific about what you actually want to do instead of focusing only on the end goal. What’s one small behavior that could move you closer to what matters to you?

✨ Make your environment work for you
Our behavior is influenced by what’s around us. Sometimes, a small change to your environment can make a behavior so much easier than relying on motivation alone.

& remember: the goal isn’t to follow someone else’s formula for being healthy. It’s to figure out what works for you & build something sustainable in your actual life.

That’s what redefining healthy looks like. 🧡

Save this for the next time you want to build a new habit. by @ali_kathryn

If I say ‘creativity,’ what comes to mind?

For a lot of us, it’s probably drawing, painting, music or photography 📸🎶🎬✍🏽🎨

But what if creativity looks a little different for you?

A recent conversation in my health coaching practice got me thinking about this. We were using the Circle of Life assessment to explore different areas of well-being, & my client pointed to creativity as an area that was less fulfilled.

But what does that mean when you’re not an “artsy” person?

What if something can matter to your wellbeing even though the most obvious version of it doesn’t feel like you?

Maybe for you, creativity looks like gardening or making your house feel like a home, playing around in the kitchen, writing in a journal, or even just looking at something and reflecting on the beauty in it 🌅✨

It doesn’t have to look a certain way, and you don’t have to be good at it.

The Circle of Life (or Wellness Wheel) is one tool I use as a coach (& a human) to explore different areas of wellbeing, including areas we might not think about.

Remember, YOU get to decide what feels meaningful in your life 🧡🌺

So tell me, what does creativity look like in your life? ☀️🌼🫶🏽 by @ali_kathryn

Changing your behavior & building habits have nothing to do with willpower 🙊

8 months ago, I changed how I sleep. & hear me when I say, I had no intentions of ever being a ground sleeper.

It started with a concern for my health & wellbeing. I felt like I was doing all the “right” things, but every morning was the same. I was waking up exhausted, sore, & incredibly anxious.

As a behavior analyst & health coach, I know how much our environment influences our behavior. I knew I couldn’t just will myself into waking up early, energized, & excited. I wasn’t intentionally snoozing my alarm for 2 hours every morning. It wasn’t a lack of discipline.

So I got curious ✨

I looked at how things in my environment were influencing me. I tried some things, & I paid attention. Ultimately, I learned that my mattress was affecting my sleep & I figured out a way to support my health without needing to renovate my entire room or spend thousands on a fancy replacement.

& that experience is a big part of how I approach health & wellness coaching ☀️🌅

I’m not here to tell you what you should do or sell you some perfect plan that’s going to solve all your problems.

I’m here to help you figure out what matters to you, what’s getting in the way, & what changes align for you.

Sometimes the answer isn’t to try harder. It’s to try something different 🌀🌊

You don’t need to adopt ground sleeping. 🛌 But if you’re struggling with energy, mood, or overall wellbeing, your sleep habits & environment might be worth exploring 💤

What’s one thing you can change to help you build a healthier life? 🫶🏽

If this resonates, save it as a reminder to get curious. & if you’re ready for support figuring out what sustainable change could look like for YOU, my DMs are open 🧡✨ by @ali_kathryn

🚨 breaking news!! 🚨

I think a lot of us get stuck comparing ourselves & our accomplishments to other people. Or we believe there’s a specific path we have to follow to reach a certain goal.

Maybe we’ve been surrounded by so many expectations that we don’t even realize how much of our life is being shaped by them.

But guess what?
🫶🏽 All the rules are made up
🫶🏽 Just because something worked for someone else doesn’t mean it has to be your path
🫶🏽 You’re allowed to figure out what actually works for you

Life is for living. & if there isn’t one right way to do it, you might as well create a life that feels like yours. ✨

If you’re over feeling stuck & ready to start living a life aligned with YOUR values, in a way that actually feels like YOU…

BACK-TO-SCHOOL Series Day 11 Meet: @ali_kathryn 💗

I met Ali through @primal.bam @primalmovementofficial a few years ago. Since then, she’s become a SŌL Chef Extraordinaire and Primal Movement instructor at our School of Lunch Training Academy. She’s a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Certified Health and Wellness Coach. She’s also a badass skateboarder!

Ali beautifully reminds us that healthy habits start with us. When we model them, we lay the groundwork for our children to follow.

As SŌL instructor @holistichilda always says, “More is caught than taught.”

Don’t be afraid to look at your own habits, tweak, improve and evolve. No judgment. No perfectionism.

Now I’m just hoping @primalmovementofficial Thursday nights with Ali at my house are coming soon! 🤞🏼💗

I get asked about the best way to sit during work a lot. But honestly, the best piece of advice I could ever give you is to KEEP MOVING 🦶🏽🧡✨💪🏽

We’re not meant to sit or stand in one position for hours on end. But in the world we live in today, that’s exactly what most of us do, DAILY.

In my opinion, we shouldn’t have to schedule in a workout to erase a full day of slouching in the same position. We should exist in a container that promotes free movement so when we do schedule in a workout, it’s to add to a solid foundation, not undo a broken one.

I love floor desks for that reason. It’s so easy to move around and sit in ways that support my whole body on the ground.

If I’m being real though (and I always am), sometimes I want to sit in a chair too. What matters most is that my environment helps me so I can pay attention to my work while still caring for my body 🧘🏻‍♀️

If you want help adjusting your environment, building strong movement patterns, or just taking care of yourself, let’s chat.

you’re not broken 🧡✨🌞

& your body isn’t working against you.

it can be so easy to believe that your body is the problem when you live with chronic pain.

I know I did. I battled with & disconnected from myself for years bc I didn’t think I could trust my body to keep me healthy & out of pain. nothing ever worked long enough.

but your body knows exactly what it’s doing. you’re more than capable. your body has been responding to your environment & inputs you’ve been given.

soft furniture, chairs that compress you, shoes that reshape & squish your feet, nonstop stimulation, stress, detachment from nature, food designed to addict you instead of nourish you…

all of these things play an integral role in how you move & function

if you want to get out of pain, you don’t need to try harder. you need to slow down & change the inputs. build the breathing patterns & back chain while setting up your environment & lifestyle to promote positive movement patterns & health.
