WHALE BREACH 🐋
Serves several purposes :
- Communication: the sound of the impact travels a long distance underwater, allowing whales to signal their presence or send messages.
- Removing parasites: the hit against the surface helps dislodge barnacles and other organisms attached to their skin.
- Play or strength display: young whales practice coordination, while adults may show power or vitality.
- Courtship: during the breeding season, some males breach to impress females or compete with other males.
