I'm a globally focused food writer/editor and regional Virginia restaurant critic who’s always in search of the next exciting discovery.

POSTS STORIES REELS

My first story for @foodandwine just dropped! I learned what it takes to be a beef sommelier @oxandolive.dc, one of my favorite new restaurants. I’ve really missed this kind of on-the-ground reporting and hope I get to do more soon. It reminded me of interning as a whole-animal butcher early in my time @sevendaysvt. You can read the story at the link in my bio. by @alicelevitteats

I’ve been a food writer for close to 20 years. In that time, my number one goal has never changed. The pinnacle has always been to write for @saveurmag. Guess what? It’s finally happened and the story is about one of my greatest culinary passions.

In the Fall/Winter 2026 issue, now available at bookstores and online, I got the opportunity to tell the tale of the Michelin-recognized New England Uyghur restaurant, @jahunger_ . Throughout 14 pages, readers will learn about my favorite cumin-redolent, chile-spiked cuisine. Those who haven’t had the opportunity to visit Xinjiang or a Uyghur restaurant can now learn to make bouncy hand-pulled noodles, earthy lamb skewers and stick-to-your-ribs polo at home, all with the exceptional photography of superstar @ninagallant_

I couldn’t be more #grateful and I can’t wait to see what’s next. #printisnotdead #printisntdead by @alicelevitteats

Big, fun news! @msbrideyoleary and I recorded our first podcast episode and it’s now on Spotify! You’ll find the link in my bio.

“Me Like Food” is a long time coming. In our first episode, ‘Send Noodz,’ we discuss our backgrounds as food writers, smuggling cheese home from our travels, and of course, hand-pulled noodles! We would be so honored if you would give us a listen! by @alicelevitteats

Congratulations to the @northernvirginiamag top 10 restaurants. It’s always a stacked summer of eating, so I’m so grateful for the help this year from @monicasaigalbhide, @pat.tanumihardja, @travelanddish and @missalyss2! Thanks, too, to @butcherphotography for making these memorable meals look their most delicious yet. Ready to see the whole thing? Check out the link in my stories. by @alicelevitteats

Some dreams feel too big to say out loud, and somehow, this one came true. ✨

We’re so proud, and still pinching ourselves, to share that our Uyghur food and recipes are featured in Saveur’s fall issue. We’re the first Uyghur story to appear in the magazine, and it’s something we never imagined.

A heartfelt thank you to @alicelevitteats for believing in our food and bringing our story to @SaveurMag, to @ninagallant_for the beautiful photos that brought it all to life, and to @alextestere for making the whole process so much smoother. Seeing 13 pages devoted to our food and story means more than we can say.

Our hearts are full. We’re so grateful, and this still feels like a dream. 🥹💛 by @alicelevitteats

Tyson isn’t a birthday guy, but I am, so I’m posting to wish him a stellar year. We’ve had tons of delicious adventures this year—just yesterday we went oystering. Here’s to many more! by @alicelevitteats

Eight years ago today, I arrived in one of my favorite places on the planet for the first time. #urumqi #xinjiang will always be in my heart, whether or not I’m able to return someday. I have a big project that I’m excited to share soon that’s related to this magnificent 24 hours and beyond. I can’t wait to show y’all! by @alicelevitteats

Our meat-tastic anniversary tradition continued last night with a Porterhouse @keenssteakhouse. The historic restaurant has been on my to-do list for well over two decades. The surprise highlight for me was the crisp calamari salad, a dish that deserves to be as much of a classic as the chophouse itself. #nycfood #classicrestaurant #keens #weddinganniversary by @alicelevitteats

We kicked off our anniversary celebration with Uyghur food, a pastrami burger and a thoroughly unsexy but still entertaining production of The Rocky Horror Show. I wore the dress I sported when I sang this song in The Rocky Horror Puppet Show 16 years ago. Today is our actual anniversary and I hope we can equal such an excellent day! by @alicelevitteats

To mark the midpoint of the year, I’m sharing my 10 favorite dishes of the past six months. In order of their consumption, I loved these the very best. And yes, they include two Uyghur restaurants on opposite ends of the planet.

1. Intensely marinated fried chicken on the breakfast buffet @parkhyatt_kl’s Park Lounge

2. Fried noodles at Mee Tarik Shepherd in #bayanlepas #penang

3. Lamb bamboo briyani @annachi_bamboo_masalla_briyani , #georgetown, Penang

4 and 5. Bamboo noodles @toktokmee_37pg , George Town

6. Sunday roast platter @huntersheadtavern , Upperville, Virginia

7. Tom kha white sauce pasta with fried cod @blackrubycambridge , #cambridge, Massachusetts

8. The most savory polo I’ve ever tasted @jahunger_ Cambridge, Massachusetts

9. Carrot cake (and I don’t usually like carrot cake) @oxandolive.dc #washingtondc

10. Duck choila @tapori.dc , washingtondc

11. Chocolate Earl Gray Potter’s Wheel, @harrimansgrill @salamanderresort by @alicelevitteats

#malaysianbreakfast is the most delicious of all possible breakfasts and the dishes @liumenhotel were among my favorite versions thereof. Watch to the end to see which is the best of the best. #melaka #melakamalaysia #melakafood #malaysiafood by @alicelevitteats

Check out the link in our stories to see the piece my wife and I collaborated on for @timeout_asia. We love a great afternoon tea and these are the best of the best. by @alicelevitteats
