Happy birthday to my Rnb, horror, sports, 80s nostalgia loving fanatic husband. Even though you didn’t get a perfect score bowling today, you bowl me over on the daily with your kindness and incredible ability to turn anything into a world class salad. You are an amazing dad, husband and friend and we are all lucky to have you in our lives ❤️ by @alidalisse

@seeyouatintermission The naughty little sister of @thewestendelectric 🫦🍸

Pop in, stay late, grab a bite before or after the show. Located right in front of The West End Electric in Brisbane’s bohemian West End, Intermission is an intimate glamorous old world bar with a decadent drinks list and a Spanish and French inspired food menu.

Cocktails such as the Choc Top Martini, Popcorn Sour and Malt-Pleaser embrace the venue’s theatrical inspiration, while dishes including burrata with peach and prosciutto-loaded crisps, Yarra Valley caviar served with potato pavé, and freshly sliced charcuterie strike the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort.

The venue itself is equally impressive, featuring a dazzling gold floor created from hundreds of thousands of hand-scattered gold flakes. Vintage furnishings, classic theatre posters and warm festoon lighting evoke the charm of London’s famed theatre district, while dark timber panelling and woven wicker accents draw inspiration from the timeless elegance of Parisian bistros.

Baz Luhrmann has already been spotted enjoying a night at Intermission ahead of its official launch, which is a pretty strong endorsement of the venue’s atmosphere and style.

For those keen to experience it themselves, Intermission’s opening weekend runs from 19–21 June. Guests can enjoy live DJs from 4pm until late, the late-night Encore Hour from 9pm featuring a special $14 menu, and Sunday Service from 12pm–2pm with Bloody Marys, spritzes and traditional empanadas. As an added bonus, anyone who books a table for opening weekend will receive complimentary unlimited fries or focaccia with their reservation.
