Our pandemic wedding was five years ago today — simple, intimate, and grounded in choosing each other. Five years in and still learning the same things but in a different context — with letting go, leaning into the hard parts, and enjoying the ride. After 23 months and 4 days, Ines and I have officially ended our breastfeeding journey 🥹 As a first-time mom, I can truly say what so many moms on this same journey say: nothing really prepares you—physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually—for breastfeeding. I still remember Ines’ gummy smile then—now replaced with a full set of tiny teeth after a satisfying “malka / milka milk session” (yes, we had a special name for breastfeeding!) that somehow always made the exhaustion feel a little lighter. Since February, my constant prayer was: “God, please make my milk stop.” There were nights I’d scroll endlessly on TikTok, searching for answers and trying everything to gently help her wean. I even thought we were done after a 5-day business trip in March—only to come back and find myself breastfeeding again like nothing changed. Weaning Ines took 3 months. We’ve now been in this no-milka life for 3 weeks. And in a week, she turns 2. What a journey. Tonight, Ines is asleep on my chest. No feeding. Just her. Just me. Just this. Proud of my baby girl. And proud of me too. 🤍 by @alinofvenice
