In case you missed him last month, SOUL is back & bringing his DEPTH Intensive to us this time to build with us. 1 Day, 4.5hrs of knowledge from one of the best dancers globally. Take full advantage of this opportunity! Early bird until September 25 Bios POPPING Straight from the heart of Motown, dubbed one of the goats within this generation's era of Boogaloo/Popping forms. The one & only SOUL, known for not only his extensive knowledge within Boogaloo/Popping genres, but his deep understanding in musical application within musicality & being a strategist that has made him one of the hardest opponents to match on the floor. Achieving vet status from being consistent with over 10 years of wins, workshops, timeless match ups & sharing knowledge on a global scale, it’s no question why Detroit's own, is arguably a top 5 worldwide. HOUSE A true vet of the art & student of the game, being a nerd & practitioner of the culture for almost 20 years now. Soul has developed his style to be one of the most complex on the floor from his deep musical, smooth & complex controlled groove approach which has now made him world class level of the dance. Being from Detroit with 15yrs of skin in the game. Soul pulls from the hustle scene & his Popping, Hip Hop Freestyle & Jam Skating background & of course some of the House Dance Pioneers/OGs of Detroit, NY & New Jersey that heavily influences his level of complex finesse & musicality he portrays. Maintaining a rare duality of both grace, rawness & being versatile within vocab while never losing the organic essence of the spirit of House. While he has stepped away from being in the spotlight in the contest realm within House, Souls knowledge & depth in movement shines within the cyphers, workshops & sessions inside the culture. by @alison_corns

Picked up this beautiful book of poetry from @thebravepoet_ this past weekend 💚 Farah is a Palestinian Canadian poet here in yeg. I loved reading this collection of powerful poems, from shares of grief to white supremacy, to feeling courage and resiliency that so many Palestinians possess and display. I loved seeing her family photos that were placed throughout the book too 💚 highly recommend if you would like some amazing local poetry 🍉 #yegpoetry by @alison_corns
If you want some fabulous locally made earrings, check out @tmaccessoriesyyc 💜 Taylor has a beautiful heart and soul. We need to protect this woman at all costs 💜 you are supporting a Black single mom directly by purchasing her earrings. Taylor is currently facing $6000 in legal fees for all the nonsense the CPS is putting her through (you can learn more @stopthestackyyc ) If earrings aren't your thing, you can support by etransfer as well to tmcnallie@gmail.com. by @alison_corns
Some glimpses into 2024. I'm not going to sugar coat it, 2024 was a year of mourning. To feel the collective pain and witness multiple genocides taking place on this earth was a lot to take in and hold, but part of the experience of embracing humanity. I'm thankful for these moments of joy captured because adjacent to all of those moments were also many times of grief and breakdown. I'm thankful for these people in my life that are a part of our village and the many more that aren't shown here. Some things I learned that feel like they were actually felt and processed in the body: I feel so much more attuned to my body and to trust the energies I feel. My morning routine is... so special and nurturing to me. I learned you really can't force people to care...like I knew this already, but I actually felt it this past year. I thought witnessing the Holocaust 2.0 would activate something in more people but if people don't have capacity for themselves how can they have capacity for others? If people don't want to heal then how are they supposed to feel that we are all connected? If people don't want to decolonize then how are they to face the harm we all have a part to play in? Our hyper individualistic ways are so deeply rooted in us that it's much easier to live in our own bubble and avoid than confront the roots. Confronting means learning how to be accountable, and it's something we need more practice in. We all have unique wiring going on and if people don't want to take any steps to face their own wiring and unpack then I can't force them to. That might seem obvious but I've gotten caught up time and time again thinking when people self proclaim as " being progressive" I think they have an understanding or share the same care I have and that's a misstep on my part that I'm trying to work on.Trust peoples actions. It's okay to be misunderstood. Peoples discomfort with you speaks more about them than you. Anytime I want to judge I ask myself where do I do that/been that, or act similarly and that usually checks me real quick (thanks @jojodiggs for that nugget lol) I'll be ordering up more of that radical care and love for 2025 💗 by @alison_corns
Hi all, If ya wanna help me let's connect! by @alison_corns
Reposted from @decolonizemyself Lou-ann Neel • @louann_neel . Remember - it's important to share the TRUTH part first, not jumping ahead to 'reconciliation' - it's easy to say "we are doing this, or we've done that" what really matters is WHAT CHANGED, what was it that you changed so that it was no longer discriminatory, judgmental, stereotypical; a systemic problem, an attitudinal barrier, a policy or procedural conundrum, and so on. You don't need to list it here, just think ahead to September 30 when these updates are being shared, and offer a balanced account of what the truth is and what was reconciled or corrected or improved. I had just woken up but the morning light was inspiring me to move this morning. Soft, subtle, and slow was what the light was greeting me with. I'm basically in my PJs and have bed head, but I don't care how I look. In some perceptions I might not be doing much but that wasn't the point. I just wanted to move my body to how the light inspired me to, a gentle "good morning". A soft- subtle -slow- hello- to embrace my body for the day. 🌅🌞 (Curious to see if this helps my algo with it being shadow banned 🫠) by @alison_corns
July 14 and 21st protests. We are approaching 10 months of genocide. I will always unapologetically be for humanity, and I can't align or be in close community with people who don't care for this world. May we never get desensitized and bear witness to the many genocides in the world to fuel our power for hope, action, and change amongst the feelings of grief from the inhumane atrocities we are witnessing.
