The details your guests won't notice are often the ones your parents will treasure most.

Wedding days pass in the blink of an eye. The final scene in Father of the Bride, when George Banks hopes for one last hug before Annie leaves, is a gentle reminder of just how quickly the day comes and goes.

As you plan your wedding, don't forget to plan a few moments to thank the parents who have loved, supported, and prayed for you long before this day arrived.

A few thoughtful ideas:

💌 Write a handwritten note and ask your planner or a sibling to leave it on their nightstand or tuck it into your mom's purse to discover after the celebration.

🤍 Leave a monogrammed handkerchief on your mother's and grandmother's ceremony chairs. Our favorite source for beautiful monogrammed handkerchiefs: @marymackhouston

📷 Consider arranging with your photographer to print, frame, and deliver a favorite family photo during your honeymoon.

Before you climb into your getaway car, find your parents, give them one last hug, and simply say, "Thank you." by @alisonbakerevents

Should we consider a first look?

It’s a common question, and our answer is always the same: It’s personal.

There isn’t a right or wrong decision. Instead, think about what matters most to the two of you and how you want your wedding day to feel.

A first look offers some wonderful advantages. It gives you a few quiet moments together before the celebration begins and allows your photographer to capture genuine emotion in a more private setting.

From a planning perspective, it also allows you to complete most of your couple, wedding party, and family portraits before guests arrive. That means fewer photos after the ceremony, more time to enjoy cocktail hour, or even the opportunity to head straight into your reception.

If you’re including young children or grandparents in family photos, consider saving just those combinations until after the ceremony so they don’t have to arrive quite so early.

That said, if one or both of you have always envisioned seeing each other for the first time as you walk down the aisle, honor that. We love tradition, and your wedding day can run beautifully without a first look.

The best choice isn’t about following a trend. It’s choosing the option that feels most like you.

We are big fans of a private last dance.

As your guests make their way outside for the send-off, remain behind for one final song. The ballroom that was once perfectly set is now wonderfully lived in, a beautiful reminder of a celebration well enjoyed.

One last song. One final look around. A chance to take it all in before the next chapter begins.

Cheers. by @alisonbakerevents

Long live the Kings. 👑

Sometimes the most memorable designs begin by looking at a familiar space in an entirely new way.

For Allie Beth and Hearne, we reimagined Arlington Hall with a layout that had never been done before: alfresco dining beneath the stars, a seamless transition into the tent for dancing, and thoughtful details woven throughout.

The tent entrance was intentionally aligned with the Allie Beth & Pierce Allman Arbor Pavilion, a meaningful gift to the park from Allie Beth’s grandparents. The placement created a beautiful connection between the celebration and a place that carries special significance for her family.

Just steps away, a custom martini bar, created as a surprise for the groom’s father and featuring his favorite martini, quickly became one of the evening’s favorite gathering spots.

Martinis were shaken, memories were made, and the dance floor stayed full long after the sun had set beneath a perfect spring Dallas sky. taken in Arlington Hall Special Events by @alisonbakerevents

One of the greatest privileges of our work is witnessing the sacred moments just before a bride and her father begin their walk down the aisle.

In those fleeting seconds, time seems to stand still. There is immense love, gratitude, joy, and the tender ache of knowing that life is about to change. A father looks at his daughter and sees, all at once, the little girl he raised and the woman she has become.

These are the moments that linger long after the music fades and the celebration ends.

To all the fathers who have loved, guided, protected, and cheered from the sidelines, Happy Father’s Day. by @alisonbakerevents

Some moments stay with you forever.

Randall and Mike’s wedding weekend was filled with unforgettable moments, but their beach day with their wedding party may have been the highlight. A private stretch of white sand, crystal-blue Bahamian water, and their favorite people gathered together. It truly doesn't get much better than that.

As their first anniversary approaches, we're finding ourselves reminiscing about this extraordinary celebration.

Thoughtfully Styled Bridesmaids

Begin with a curated palette of colors, fabrics, and silhouettes that reflect your wedding vision, then allow each bridesmaid to choose a gown that suits her personal style and helps her feel her best.

Planning tip: the most cohesive collections often come from a little guidance behind the scenes. Create an inspiration board of dresses you love and invite your bridesmaids to share their favorite options before purchasing. A quick review by your planner can ensure each selection complements the overall design while still feeling personal to the person wearing it.

Whether you choose matching gowns, one fabric in varying styles, or a thoughtfully curated mix, the goal is the same: a bridal party that feels beautifully cohesive while allowing each bridesmaid to feel comfortable, confident, and celebrated. ✨ by @alisonbakerevents
