The Game of Life by Edouard Hue and @scottishdancetheatre is about to head out on a UK tour.

Inspired by puzzle and pattern, The Game of Life explores how individuals come together into a living, evolving whole without surrendering their uniqueness.

Two gorgeous shows I’m very proud of have been selected for Made in Scotland and are in tech this week in preparation for the Fringe.

Tongue Twister by Greg Sinclair is a celebration of the musical beauty of language, and is one man’s attempt to say tongue twisters in as many different languages as possible, while trying to dance. And make music. And do a ton of costume changes.

Float by Kerry Cleland is a beautiful, calm, immersive world designed especially for babies from birth to 12 months old and their grown-ups.

Both are on at 150b Cromdale Theatre at Pleasance at EICC, 150 Morrison Street, Edinburgh EH3 8EE

Rusty chains + ugly trousers + vinegar = this gorgeous wee wren costume for King of the Birds by Niamh O’Laughlin.
It’s very satisfying how a crime against fashion can become a thing of beauty through recycling and a bit of rust dyeing.
I don’t always achieve a sustainable outcome, but I try.

I got the fun job of using a Princess Pleater to gather the power mesh I incorporated into the patchwork of these costumes. The absolutely amazing @gillianlennox got the tough job of then turning the patchwork into beautifully made unitards for The Fifth Sun by Luail.

I’ve pimped the cake hat for Tongue Twister by Greg Sinclair, before it heads to the Fringe as part of the @madeinscotland_showcase

The icing is made from foam clay pressed into silicone moulds. It’s such a great material to work with, really light, and copes well with hot glue.
I’ll definitely be using foam clay again.
The gorgeous crochet is the work of @lomondflowers 🙏❤️🙏

Revisiting fabric origami in costume making, applying traditional origami paper folding techniques to textiles for a costume I’m developing with the brilliant wardrobe team @perththeatreandconcerthall
Costumes have to be robust to survive performance and handle being packed and toured, so we’ve been experimenting with materials and methods to make origami wearable and performance-proof.
