Your venue coordinator can be incredible at their job — and still not be your wedding planner.

Because they're two different jobs.

Your venue coordinator works on behalf of your venue. Their responsibility is making sure everything related to the property, venue team and venue operations runs smoothly.

Your wedding planner works on behalf of you. And that distinction matters more than you might realize.

-> When your florist is running behind, we're figuring out how that affects setup.
-> When a rental delivery isn't right, we're making the phone call.
-> When your photographer needs ten more minutes for portraits, we're adjusting what comes next.
-> When a vendor has a question, we're answering it so they don't have to find you.

And when three things need attention at exactly the same time?

I'm deciding what needs to happen next — while you're still enjoying your wedding.

That's what you risk losing when you assume venue coordination and wedding planning are interchangeable.

Not necessarily money.

Your time. Your attention. Your ability to be fully present.

A great venue coordinator is an incredible part of your vendor team. I LOVE working alongside them.

But their responsibility is the venue.

Mine is you.

A wedding timeline isn't really about what happens at 2pm, 4pm or 6pm.

It's about making sure you never have to wonder what happens next.

Behind every timeline we build, we're thinking through things like:

→ How long hair + makeup will *actually* take
→ When each vendor needs access to the venue
→ Travel time between locations
→ How much portrait time your photographer needs
→ When the sun sets
→ How guests will move from one part of the day to another
→ When dinner service needs to begin
→ What happens if something runs 15 minutes behind
→ And what changes if Plan A suddenly becomes Plan B

Because here's the thing:
Something will probably shift on your wedding day.

That doesn't mean anything has gone wrong.

A thoughtfully built timeline has enough breathing room that your photographer can take five extra minutes, your bustle can take longer than expected or weather can change the plan — and *you never feel like the day is falling behind.*

That's the difference between having a schedule and having a professionally planned wedding day.

The goal isn't for you to spend your wedding checking the time.

It's for me to have thought through it so thoroughly that you don't have to.

This answer tells you a lot about who you're trusting with your wedding day.

What happens if they're sick?
What if a piece of equipment fails?
What if weather changes the plan?
What if another vendor is running behind and suddenly their timeline has to shift?
What if something happens that *none* of you anticipated?

A beautiful portfolio can show you what a vendor creates when everything goes according to plan.

This question tells you how they operate when it doesn't.

The best wedding professionals won't be thrown by the question. They'll be able to tell you about backup plans, communication processes and how they've handled the unexpected before.

Because experience isn't just knowing how to create a beautiful wedding day.

It's knowing how to protect one, too.

You don’t need to add another 30 people because you feel guilty.

You don’t need to invite someone simply because your parents know them.

And you definitely don’t need a certain number of guests for your wedding to feel like a celebration.

Some of the most meaningful weddings I’ve planned have had 40 guests. Some have had 60. Some have had far more.

The number isn’t what makes the day memorable.

It’s how intentionally you fill the room.

A smaller guest list can mean more room in the budget for the experience you really care about. More time spent with each person who’s there. More thoughtful details. And a celebration that feels like *you* instead of a performance for everyone else.

There is no magic guest count that makes a wedding “good.”

Invite the people you can’t imagine celebrating without. Build the experience around them.

And let go of the rest.
