Never forget.

I remember every minute of that day, desperate to contact my friends and family in the city as the phone lines shut down, I was in Philly and ready to run home to see my loved ones. The fear, the loss, the terror, the aftermath.

I mourn for the lives lost, I honor and thank the first responders who risked everything to save lives and restore order, I honor and thank the legion who spent years identifying the dead to bring what solace they could to the families.

Today would’ve been my dad’s 83rd bday- every year I try to have an Ira day to celebrate him.

Spent the morning cleaning and de cluttering then movies (@coyoteacmemovie) popcorn and candy (even threw a few peanut m&ms in the popcorn as was his wont.

Then home to a dinner of hot turkey sandwiches (a favorite of his) —- while we were getting ready helped up on the screen saver !

next up Marx Bros & peppermint stick ice cream.

Kinda chic to color coordinate your breakfast.

Peaches from @winterhillfarmer, my own home grown tomato, simit (aka Jerusalem bagel), @laboiteny Mishmash spice mix (saffron & honey!) & their za’atar.

I think was the best breakfast of the summer- one of my rare mornings at home with nothing terribly important to do or anywhere I have to be-
