With Setting Sails & Alkaline Studio

These curtains enhance the transformation of our space between its many purposes.

From beautiful creative mess to tight events.

Wanting to find a secondary material that is both aesthetic and dust repellant had led us to Setting Sails. together with Dick's generous donation and curiosity and Alice's textile design skills we got to this stunning studiowear.

@settingsails.earth is a Rotterdam based company that gives new life to old sails in the form of shades and other objects.

@alkalinestudio is a textile and natural dye studio based in Amsterdam founded by Alice Tsibulsky, a multidisciplinary artist and educator.

The third and last day!
We started with a jewelry up-cycling workshop, followed by lots of free time to finish up projects or enjoy the surroundings outside.
For dinner, we made orecchiette together and had a beautiful candlelit meal, where everyone had a chance to share what the experience was like for them.
And of course - lots of dancing afterwards !

A little peek of days 1 and 2 at our dreamy creative nature retreat / summer camp for adults! 🦋

We had the best time, eating our first dinner together, collaging diy journals, learning how to naturally dye textiles using plants and earth pigments, repairing our clothes, and moving in and appreciating the nature around us! 🌳

Our first ever creative nature retreat has come to an end and we are still pinching ourselves, asking if it really happened. 🥹

We were a group of 13 women, a dog and two cats, in the countryside, moving our bodies, upcycling, cooking and eating good food while sharing stories, learning from one another, and appreciating the nature around us. Thanks to everyone who joined and brought their beautiful, creative energy, and thanks to all those who were cheering us on as we prepared for it! We will share more about the weekend in the coming days 🌷🌻 taken in Rossin by @alkalinestudio

Alice is a textile artist and educator focusing on natural dyes and handwork. She strives to share the beauty of slowing down and reconnecting with our hands and the earth in order to truly treasure the things we own.

At Knits and Now, Alice will be helping you dye your beautiful yarns, where you can choose from three different natural colours and experience the wonder of plant dyes to make your pieces even more unique.

Amsterdam friends ! I’m starting a drop-in pwyw sewing circle 🪡

For those of you who have never sewn before and want to learn the basics, or those who have a skirt to hem that’s been lying around for nine months, or maybe for those who have an unfinished project they want to finally get done but need a push !

It will be in my living room for now, so groups will be small and intimate. The idea is that you will work independently on what you want, and I will be around to guide you. For absolute beginners, I will teach you how to use a sewing machine so you can get started with your own projects. Everyone of all levels and experience is welcome.

It’s all about coming together, learning from each other, and taking some time for ourselves.
