Born to Win: BMW 3.0 CSL

Introduced in May 1972, the 3.0 CSL was a homologation special built to make the car eligible for racing in the European Touring Car Championship. 1,265 were built.

The "L" in the designation meant leicht (light), unlike in other BMW designations, where it meant lang (long). The lightness was achieved by using thinner steel to build the unit body, deleting the trim and soundproofing, using aluminium alloy doors, bonnet, and boot lid, and using Perspex side windows. The five hundred 3.0 CSLs exported to the United Kingdom were not quite as light as the others, as the importer had insisted on retaining the soundproofing, electric windows, and stock E9 bumpers on these cars. The CSL was not sold in the United States.

The 1955 Aston Martin DB3S/104 is a genuine piece of British motorsport history, completed on 23 May 1955 and making its racing debut just six days later at the Hyères 12 Hours in France, where it finished third. Built during Aston Martin’s fierce competition era, this lightweight sports racer went on to compete in Britain and America, accumulating an extraordinary history across the decades. Its story includes a connection to legendary British racing driver Stirling Moss, who drove it at Goodwood in 2016. This 110-Year-Old Truck Has Six Wheels and a Wooden Body

Originally built in 1916, this REO Speed Wagon has been transformed by automotive craftsman Gary Wales into “Lucky Buck” — a six-wheeled, one-of-a-kind creation dubbed the REOAK. Combining the original REO chassis and running gear with an Oakland six-cylinder engine, it features a hand-built mahogany body inspired by the 2020 McLaren Speedtail, adorned with approximately 1,200 carefully aligned brass screws. Even the details are unconventional, from a cleverly hinged bonnet to dashboard panels repurposed from a coffee table.
