Some mornings feel like gravity is extra heavy, tin man syndrome, rigor mortis…. So, start moving and oiling up those creaky joints…

Of course, this after 2 cups of coffee and food…

Commitment improves alignment, balance, activation, power, integration, etc Just one example: In a
plié …let’s say that your little toe isn’t in contact with the floor, so your foot is rolling in, then your knees are rolling in, your hip is in a disadvantaged position, etc up the line… your power transmission suffers. You also open yourself up to injury. If you reach, reach with intention. If you push, push with intention … commitment by @allairedc

People are motivated by different things.
Case in point, she couldn’t stand up for more than a few seconds at a time. Turned on the timer, and she was able to stand for a full minute, five times… and she enjoyed it!

Looking at the clock motivated her past her discomfort and fears of inability.

This tells me a lot about her drive.

Timed goals, numbers, countdowns motivate her. This is good information.

This post isn’t about a particular exercise or the use of a timer for everyone…it’s just an example.

This post is about finding the motivation that gets people to push through and gain confidence in their progressive abilities and capacities.
What drives and engages people? It could be a timer, imagery, actionable cues, games, team/group solidarity, deep bodily connection, etc.

Make it work.

As per yesterday’s (FB) post, it’s not about perfect posture every moment, but about being able to get to a stable, grounded posture and use it when you need it.

Image 1
He felt disoriented, hard to stand up, hard to sit up, was rolling back on himself, uncertain.

Image 2
We practiced a “sumo” posture (I used that image and it stuck).
He was able to get up, feel more integrated and connected, grounded. by @allairedc

Better yet, crank out some lunges, grab a band and do some reverse flys, do a brugger type motion variation, change it up, refresh, activate…. Movement snacks. When walking, swing your arms, look around, re- groove your system. by @allairedc
