It was the morning of Sept 11, 2001. I was teaching my junior English class at Campus Magnet in Room 147. One of my students said, "A plane just crashed into the Twin Towers." I told her to stop kidding. It seemed impossible. The custodians went to the roof and reported seeing the second plane hit. It seemed unreal, impossible.

I remember using the Twin Towers as a landmark when I needed to navigate the streets. This icon of American architecture was destroyed.

The worst part was the way people started blaming America. They justified the attacks on civilians. Acts of terrorism can only be blamed on the people and organizations that carry them out.

So many people died. So many families suffered loss. Our first responders gave up their lives. Those who survived put their lives on hold to work back-to-back days, weeks, and months.

Yet we have not learned to unite as one American people, to support each other in spite of and because of our differences. Hatred of our brothers and sisters can only weaken us. by @allan_weissmann

Went to South Park today. I missed getting a photo of Tweek's Coffee (it's a real place but under a different name). The last two photos are Stark's Pond. Seriously. The same name. by @allan_weissmann
