If you're thinking about becoming a nail tech, PLEASE do your research before enrolling in a course.

I've been in this industry for 14 years, and I've seen far too many qualified nail techs who were taught how to apply product but have absolutely no idea what to do when something goes wrong.

A certificate means fck all if you don't understand what you've actually been taught.

Before you invest thousands into your education, look at the curriculum, ask questions and find out what support you'll receive once you're working on real clients.

Make sure you're investing in KNOWLEDGE, not just a certificate. by @allaura.academy

Not every set is just a set...

This one honestly made me nervous. I was fully expecting it to lift and fall apart and I’d have to eat my words. Instead we are seeing progress each time she comes back.

But this post isn’t about bragging, it’s about the bit nobody sees. The consult, the “go see your doctor first”, the changing your whole approach because this client isn’t the same as the last one. That’s KNOWLEDGE and it’s the stuff that actually keeps your clients safe and coming back.

Pretty set = skill. Knowing when NOT to just crack on = knowledge. You need both babe. by @allaura.academy

I had every excuse ready not to start... not the right time, not enough money, what if I’m shit at it, what will people think.
What nobody tells you is the course is just the start. It’s what you do with it after that changes everything.

I didn’t get here because I was some natural born talent. I got here because I kept learning, kept showing up and eventually figured out the business side too.

So if you’ve been sitting on it for months (or years) stop.
The “perfect time” literally doesn’t exist babe, you have to just start. by @allaura.academy

Being busy and actually making money are two VERY different things.

The biggest changes I made in my business had nothing to do with learning another nail technique or getting more followers on Instagram.

It was learning how to price my services properly, setting boundaries with clients who made me dread going to work, and building a clientele who valued my work enough to pay what I was charging.

14 years in this industry, and I'm STILL learning new things. I don't care how long you've been doing nails, there's always something you can improve on.

This is why I'm constantly banging on about **SKILL, KNOWLEDGE and BUSINESS.**

You can be an incredible nail tech, but if you have absolutely no idea how to run a profitable business, being fully booked means fck all when you're barely making any money. by @allaura.academy

Chloronychia aka a bacterial infection, not a stain.
Most of you will know it as “greenie nails”

Confession time… When I first started my nail tech journey I f*cked this one up. A client came in with a green nail and I attempted to file that sh*t off because that’s what I was taught…. I didn’t know any better.

This trauma is why I’m SO strict on the nail health inside Allaura Academy.

That doesn’t happen by accident babe. It happens when your skill, your knowledge and your business all start pulling their weight at the same time.

So if you’re sitting there thinking “ok but how do I get THERE” this is how working with me looks:

We figure out where you’re at right now. Like honestly, no bullshit.
We work out where you actually want to go.
And then we map out the path to get you there, step by step, so you’re not just guessing and hoping.

Don’t waste time going back to get more product, make sure you’ve got enough to begin with.

MOVE IT INTO PLACE

Try to ensure it’s as close to perfect in this step to minimise refined filing.

TOP COAT

At first glance, I completely understand why everyone thought she was an extreme nail biter.

That’s exactly why I wanted to share this case.

When a client sits at your desk, you need to be able to look past what seems obvious and actually understand what you’re looking at.

Where is the damage starting?
What does the nail plate look like?
What’s happening underneath it?
What did you learn during their consultation?

Those answers can completely change how you approach that service, how much you touch, how much you remove, and whether you should be touching those nails at all.
