‘Seán Crossey has been part of the Manchester music scene for over a quarter of a century, whether that be deejaying, hosting events, artist management, journalism, presenting radio shows (not to mention being interviewed on BBC Radio 1, frequently featuring on BBC Radio Manchester and appearing on Sky’s long running show ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’) and of course running his own PR business. It’s quite clear that music runs through his veins.

Besides having a nightmare trying to find out where everything I’ve ever owned is, I’ve just remembered that my Factory Records show is on Fab Radio International tonight, in just over an hour (9pm UK/Irish time). My last address in Manchester was the old office of the iconic label so it was a fitting tribute and goodbye. The show kicks off with a quick chat with co-founder of Factory and my old landlord and now friend Alan Erasmus who famously never does interviews. It was an honour and a privilege just to get him into the studio and have a very brief conversation before the mix. If you’re a fan of Joy Division and New Order then this is the one for you. Almost three hours worth of the aforementioned bands interspersed with Post Punk, Alt Disco, House, Baggy and everything else on Factory. Had a little wander around town to say goodbye to a city that has been my home for the majority of my life. It feels different this time. Maybe it’s because I’m not having a mid-life crisis and marrying someone I don’t know and moving to Canada. Or maybe it’s because this time might be for good. Who knows. I know one thing, I’ll definitely miss certain aspects of living in Manchester, but I’ve had a longing to live somewhere rural for years now and Ireland was always on the cards for me. I may hate living in the middle of nowhere and I may want to move to Dublin. I may not. I may love it and see out my years there. Or maybe I’ll love it for a decade and save up enough money to move to Japan. Maybe I’ll sink on the ferry on the way there. That’d be a bit of an embarrassing death.

I digress.

I could post about Burnham’s new cabinet all day but I won’t because it’ll get tedious and I’m busy packing my life away. It’s fucking hilarious how he’s said he’s going to end neoliberal politics though and then hires a bunch of Neoliberals. Hi I’m Yvette Cooper, you might know me best from when I was Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Home Secretary under Keir Starmer’s government. Back then I decided it was best to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist group and had thousands of peaceful protesters arrested in the street and at their homes, many of whom were pensioners and/or disabled. My mate Andy Burnham has since given me a new job, this time around I’m Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, go me! I’m sure he knows that I’ve been a Labour Friends of Israel member for many years (after-all, he has too!) and that I didn’t sign the letter to enforce sanctions on Israel or the one to uphold ICC arrest warrants against Israeli war criminals…. oh and that pesky one about suspending arms deals to Israel. Hopefully, I’ll be able to carry on receiving Israeli lobbyists money (£215,000 and counting!) I know which side my bread is buttered. Hi my name’s John Healey and new PM Andy Burnham has just appointed me as his Chancellor of the Exchequer. Before this I was Secretary of State of Defence under the Starmer administration and I’ve been a “staunch ally” to Israel for decades. I’ve also been a member of Labour Friends of Israel since the 90s and they have regularly flown me out there where I’m treated like a visiting Prince. I authorized the RAF surveillance flights over Gaza, to helpi out my buddies in the IDF with shared intelligence, so they could then go and bomb the shit out of children. I said from the beginning I wasn’t arsed about the World Cup given that FIFA are a bunch of corrupt, money grabbing corporate billionaires. I’ve never supported England either, because I’m not ‘proud’ of being born in a country with so little respect for others (yeah football is political and yeah I’m talking about colonialism, their helping hand in the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the fact that they STILL need to get the fuck out of Ireland). Spain and Norway were the only teams I was happy to back because of their support of Palestine. Massive congratulations to Spain.
