I've never gotten to be on set with so many fab homosexuals before ahhhh!!!!!! 🌈🖤 This project was ambitious and painful and beautiful and I don't know what I did to deserve the dedication and the generosity but :,) It's not my film anymore, it's OURS, and I'm so excited to share the finished film with everyone (shooting for June but we'll see ur boi still has a dayjob) I can only tag 20 ppl rn buuuut know this team was HUGE and plz enjoy this BTS!! I wonder if @keiyaa had D’Angelo in mind. I love mixing two songs that feel like they’re talking to each other, a conversation that starts w Roberta Flack in 1975. D’Angelo’s slower jazzier cover moves so easily, like he has all the time in the world for the endless riffs and grinding bassline, like his love will never run out. Keiyaa is also jazzy af but love looks different in 2025. She has a lot of love to give but it’s all or nothing. No shy shit, this is your one night so you better get in there. Her stacked vocals are just as hypnotizing as D’Angelo’s, promising this love will be the best of your life, but her drums are more insistent, erratic, and by the end of her song it seems like she yearns for some of the tenderness and vulnerabilty of an early 2000s love story. This is my fav part of my mixtape because it was a blend i found on accident but they are sooo good together both musically and lyrically. half baked thoughtssss got the logo idea from @descomponer because we were talking about what it could look like to make propaganda that is both fun and political, prop that invites ppl in vs antagonizing them for their rare collective joy. thinking about how much this Knicks fantasy is tied to the Mamdanistan fantasy and how the keyword is fantasy and how neither sports or voting will really Save this city from floods and white people who dont pick up after their dogs but also how beautiful 53 years of loyalty is and how human it is to want to be a part of Something. i wonder if lighting a bus on fire will get us the free buses we were promised. thinking about how i was briefly confused before i realized the headline wasnt about NBA all-star and Knicks player carmelo anthony but about karmelo anthony, born in 2007. In 35 years he'll be 54 and maybe the Knicks will win again. truly not even going to look up how much money got moved this week between watch parties and sports betting and vintage tees and ticket prices because i don't need to do that to myself but never forget that they're nothing without our buying power. thinking about the aunties looking fab in their orange and blue sequined windbreakers, thinking about the adorable family of four yelling go knicks from their car, thinking about how homophobic it is that the nba finals is during pride lol like can we get back to our regularly scheduled programming, thinking about the kind of Faith you need to have to travel across statelines to get fireworks so that on the off chance ur team that never wins actually wins this time, u can light one up outside my window? but maybe stay ready so you dont have to get ready. thinking about all the grown men who cried and how a riot isn't the same thing as a movement. thinking about how i know this song because of Madagascar. the Knicks are the people's team because the people said so and im with the people so.
