My sweet…when I was about 8 years old you came home with a little treat for me. Inside was a pen that said “You Are My Star.” I looked down at the pen, then looked back at you and said, “No Grandma…you are MY star.” In that moment I felt seen. I felt special. I wanted to remind you that you were just as special to me. We saw each other’s light. My spirit animal. ✨Today we celebrate you and the legacy you left that continues to shine through all of us.You played such a huge part in who I am. Before I ever wrote a rap, I was writing poems for you in the kitchen , and you proudly hung them on the refrigerator like they belonged in a museum. You always reminded me to be myself and that I could do anything I put my mind to. You showed up to every recital, every play, and even some of my rap shows. 😂 I used to be scared to cuss because I knew you were sitting in the audience, but no matter what, you were always proud of me. Always my biggest supporter.You taught me how to be soft without being weak. How to be kind and graceful.Those lessons live in me every single day and I get to share the wisdom with my WOOSA tribe My journey looks different now that you aren’t here in the physical, but my spiritual team gained the biggest angel.
