Dr. Randall Tackett (University of Georgia College of Pharmacy; MSCP Adjunct Faculty at Alliant University) returns to Psychopharmacology Today to walk through what's changed since cannabis was last covered on the podcast, and what hasn't. From established therapies to hemp-derived products born out of the 2018 Farm Bill, he offers clinicians a grounded, evidence-based framework for understanding cannabinoid pharmacology, drug interactions, and safety concerns like drug testing and driving impairment.

As PsyD student Katie Schacht (@soundhealingwithkatie) wraps up her G2 year of the program, she shares with us her journey so far and advice for other students:

"In the last few months, I received my non-terminal M.A. in Clinical Psychology, passed comprehensive exams, defended my dissertation proposal exploring the practitioner experience of integrating sound healing into therapeutic psychedelic experiences, and presented a poster after serving on the editorial board at Alliant’s Annual Clinical Psychology Conference.

Alongside the academic milestones, I’ve grown so much clinically and feel grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the community in such meaningful capacities.

I did my G2 practicum at Monima Wellness Center (@monimawellness), and was hired on to continue working there as a part-time clinician over the summer, which has been awesome. My role involves group facilitation, crisis intervention, neuropsychological assessment, and sound healing within their trauma-focused PHP and IOP programs. I’ve learned so much from both staff and clients at Monima and am eager to continue developing my clinical identity in this space.

As for advice, I might just encourage folks to check in with themselves about their reasoning for doing a program like this. If they are passionate, really want to learn and grow, and are willing to fully invest in being the best clinician possible, then absolutely go for it and it will be so rewarding. Also, there is so much support (personal, academic, and professional) and as long as you put yourself out there and connect with professors and colleagues, there are so many amazing opportunities around, so take advantage." by @alliantu
