It was an honor attending the African Networking Group and hearing Dr. Joy Eze, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Nigeria and recipient of the 2026 Philip Hopewell Prize for Global Respiratory Health Research, speak about the importance of mentorship.

Slide 2 illustrates how Kenyan physician‑scientists, in partnership with Johns Hopkins, shifted care workflow for children who ingest foreign objects from surgery to bronchoscopy, which is less invasive.

Seeing these changes in practice was both eye-opening and inspiring, especially in how systems can be redesigned around children’s needs to directly improve their outcomes. Whether it’s pediatric respiratory care or adolescent mental health, the goal is the same: make care feel within reach. 🌿

November is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month! Allied would like to state that having food and shelter should be a basic human right. No one should have to conform to the habit of “making ends meet”. Everyone deserves to have resources and Allied is working towards becoming a space that can provide that. 💛💜
