Enriching OK through the arts. Supporting 40+ local orgs, making the arts more accessible and inclusive. Join us.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
October is National Arts & Humanities Month, but around here, the arts are part of every month.

They’re in the theatre seats filled for the first time. The kid who discovers they love to dance. The mural that changes a neighborhood corner. The song, story or performance that makes someone feel a little more connected to the place they call home.

That’s what we get to celebrate all October long: the artists, organizations, audiences, students, teachers and supporters who make creativity part of everyday life in central Oklahoma.

And we’re pretty lucky to live somewhere with so much of it.

Happy National Arts & Humanities Month, OKC.

We love seeing Oklahoma arts make a national impact. ❤️

Allied Arts grantee SPARK! Creative Lab is featured in the fall edition of Spotlight, the national magazine of the American Association of Community Theatre, sharing what they’ve learned about building authentic relationships with Veterans through the arts.
SPARK!’s work centers Veterans not just as participants, but as artists, storytellers, collaborators and leaders.

It’s a beautiful example of what can grow when we invest in the arts right here at home.
We’re so proud to support SPARK! through Allied Arts grant funding and to see their work recognized on a national stage.

Congratulations, SPARK! We’re cheering you on. ❤️

Our newest Allied Arts board members took orientation out into the community, visiting @sciencemuseumok, @redearthartcenter and @okcphil to see our mission in action.

Along the way, they explored the intersection of art and science at Science Museum OK, learned how Red Earth celebrates and sustains Native art and culture, and saw how the OKC Philharmonic pairs world-class performances with educational programming that reaches 15,000 students across more than 40 counties each year.

The best way to understand the reach of Allied Arts is to experience it firsthand. We’re grateful for the leaders stepping into this work with us and helping make the arts more accessible across our community. taken in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by @alliedartsokc

Art isn’t just something we experience. It’s something we practice.

Whether you sing in the shower, pick up a paintbrush, dance in your kitchen or write a poem only one person ever reads, creativity has the power to change us.

Allied Arts joins our community in mourning the loss of Dr. Susan E. “Betsy” Brackett, a devoted champion of the arts whose generosity and vision helped shape Oklahoma’s cultural landscape.

In addition to her generous support of Allied Arts, Betsy’s impact extended across the arts community. Her dedicated support of Oklahoma City Ballet and the OU School of Dance enriched countless lives and helped inspire future generations of artists.

Betsy’s legacy will live on in the performances, programs and artists she so passionately supported. We are deeply grateful for her leadership and unwavering commitment to the arts.

Our thoughts are with Gregg Wadley, her family, friends and all who were touched by her remarkable life. by @alliedartsokc

It’s National Arts in Education Week.

Every student deserves the opportunity to create, innovate and thrive through the arts, regardless of zip code or family income. Yet more than 100,000 students across Oklahoma lack access to any arts education.

Arts in education drives student success across every measure:

* Academic Achievement: Higher test scores and graduation rates
* Workforce Readiness: Building the creativity and collaboration skills that 72% of business leaders say are essential
* Student Wellness: Providing emotional outlets and supportive communities
* Equity: Ensuring all students can access transformative learning experiences

At Allied Arts, we’re proud to help strengthen access to arts education because creativity is not a luxury, it’s an essential part of every student’s success and well-being.

Sometimes the best way to understand the impact of the arts is to hear it from the people experiencing it. 💛

Access to the arts matters. Not because every child will become an artist, but because every child deserves the chance to be moved, surprised, inspired or simply filled with joy by them.

Thank you for helping make more moments like this possible across our community.

September said: how much art can we possibly fit into 30 days? 🎨

Turns out, quite a lot.

This month, Allied Arts member agencies are bringing us outdoor ballet, Shakespeare under the stars, live theatre, tap dance, comic arts, cowboy craftsmanship, painting and beading workshops, Oklahoma film, live music, family favorites, hands-on science and plenty of ways to make something yourself.

And several of these events are completely FREE.

Swipe through to make your September plans, then save this post so you can find it again when someone asks, “What should we do this weekend?”

Which one is already going on your calendar? Tell us below. 👇

What kind of community do we want to build together?

At Allied Arts, we believe in a community where:
• Kids have access to the expansiveness of the arts and can see themselves in it.
• Adults can discover creativity at any age.
• Healing, belonging and connection are supported through the arts.
• Arts organizations have the resources they need to keep our city vibrant and support the needs of their community.

The arts help us make sense of ourselves, connect across differences and imagine a future beyond what we already know.

That’s why access matters. Not for a select few, but for every student, every neighborhood and every person in our community.

The arts are for everyone.
