POSTS STORIES REELS

You have a story you care about. Getting it into readers’ hands can bring up a LOT of questions.

Yesterday, I spoke with an author who had reached out to several people and kept hitting roadblocks. We talked through her project and how I could help, and now she’s excited to move forward together.

I really love helping writers find that sense of direction. ❤️

Whether you need help strengthening your manuscript or sorting through publishing decisions, you don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Send me a DM and tell me about your book. Where are you feeling stuck?

What a joy to share Clara and the Constellations with kids and families @vumcchildren and @ryanfoundation’s Seacrest Studios today as part of their World Space Week celebrations!

We followed up storytime with a make-your-own constellation craft using glow in the dark stars. The kids’ newly-created constellations included a bumble bee, a heart, and a camel (so creative)!

And Space Week had one more surprise in store—I got to meet an astronaut! More on that tomorrow. 🚀 For now, I’ll say it was even more fascinating and exciting than I expected.

Are you marking this world space week in a special way? I’d love to hear in the comments!

So grateful for my job and celebrating all the amazing fellow authors I’ve met so far! by @alliedavis2213

We’re loving all the autumn colors on full display here in Tennessee! Along with some shots of our views out the window right now, I wanted to share some simple educational activities you can do this time of year.

1. Sorting leaves - alike and different lesson. Go on a nature walk and collect 8-10 leaves of different shapes, sizes and colors. Some can be similar to others in your pile. Sit down and have the child sort leaves by size then shape then color. Talk about how there are ways they are alike and ways they are different, but they are all leaves - just like humans!

2. Leaf character story. Have the child trace a leaf on light-colored paper. Remove the leaf and let the child draw a face and other body parts on and around the leaf to make a leaf character. Let the child draw as many as desired on separate sheets of paper. Once all the characters are done, give them names and make up a story about them together!

If you do either activity, please send to me at allie@alliedavis.net or post and tag me. I might just share your creativity here.

Enjoy getting outside and exploring with your young ones this fall!

The author services side of my business is keeping me very busy lately! Two authors I’ve been privileged to help through editing published recently, and I’m so proud of them both. My copies of both books recently arrived, so I wanted to share them with my followers as books I highly recommend.

First, Judah Newman, a talent young writer in the Middle Grade fiction genre, released his debut novel The Center of the Octagon. Second, @catherineking.ink released her debut book, Blood and Word: A True Story of Love, Loss, Sin and Redemption in narrative non-fiction.

Go check out these awesome books, and if you’re looking for an editor, I’d love to chat with you to see if I’m a fit for your needs.

Tis the season to start shopping for gifts! Hope you’ll consider hardcover copies of Cowboy Jim for the littles in your life! You can find the same quality on Amazon as my website - but I’ll gladly sign and personalize if you purchase at www.alliedavis.net. The hardcover version makes a special keepsake. Families say kids want to read this book over and over again, so it’s sure to be a hit with ages 3-8.

Good morning, baby cow!

She’s away from her mama, just like Holly in Cowboy Jim.

Thankfully I think she’ll be just fine without a rescue party coming after her today 🥰🐮🐄 by @alliedavis2213

I have $685 to help get books and author visits into schools—and your school could be one of them!

Thanks to some generous supporters, I raised these funds through BookanAuthor.com to help you cover an author visit or buy books for your school at wholesale prices.

To everyone who contributed: thank you for helping put stories into kids’ hands and encouraging their creativity.

If you’re a teacher or school librarian, message me! Let’s talk about how these funds could help your school.

And if you know someone who would love this opportunity, tag them or send them this video!

One of my favorite things about being a children’s book author? You never know where the next event will take you! 🤠🐐🐓

This weekend, it took me to a Tennessee farm where I got to share my stories with young readers, meet some wonderful families, and spend a little quality time with the four-legged (and feathered!) locals.

Since Cowboy Jim was inspired by my grandfather’s childhood on a West Texas ranch, these farm events feel especially fitting. ❤️

And let’s be real…sometimes I’m just as excited about meeting the animals as I am about meeting the readers! 😂

Hilton Head and all its beauty filled us up this week. Sunrise and sunset colors absolutely blew us away, and we loved family time in the sun and water.

Back home now and off to a book event tomorrow. Rested up and grateful, and now, back to work. by @alliedavis2213
