Am I directing a doc about stand up? Or asking for money in 2025? Same POV honestly... 😂

But seriously - I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to these *heroes* who donated to Local Yokels last month:

@its.hark - Ugh, where to begin with my seabae. Nothing will ever beat sailing around the world together on what felt like the world's smallest ship. And despite being an entire continent apart since, you've always championed me in the world of production and storytelling. Thank you 🙏

@mackenziehilton I knew you were a talent the moment I met you. Watching you move to NYC and lead locations with me for @theincredible.shortfilm was nothing short of inspiring. I love watching your success from afar ✨

@lemaydm - Whether you knew it or not, you've been one of my biggest cheerleaders these last two years. Starting a family as a working mom in NYC is no easy feat, but you always gave me the space to vent and share my stories. I look up to you as one of many badass women in my life, but very few compare to you as a badass mom. Your support means the world and feels undeserving at times. Thanks for always believing in me ✨

Independent documentaries don’t get finished without belief - belief in the story, the people behind it, and the value of honest, human storytelling. Every contribution helps push this project closer to the finish line. If you want to make a TAX DEDUCIBLE donation (and offset those capital gains taxes) please consider donating at the link in bio ❤️ by @alliedelury

I’ve done some of the hardest things in the world (Ironman, vanlife while pregnant, Inca Trail Marathon) and as much as I’m tempted to say the hardest thing is raising 2 under 2, it pales in comparison to asking people for money.

*Especially* in this economy.

Immediately after filming this documentary in 2023 (one that I sold my house to fund), I got pregnant, then got pregnant again, lost my job courtesy of DOGE, and am now surfing the highs and lows of raising two babes in a new city. But amid the drastic turn in life events, I’ve never stopped thinking about this story.

I hate, HATE that creative expression is so deeply tied to funding and financial access. But that is the exhausting and dejecting reality of this industry.

If anyone in my network has read this far, and would treat me to a coffee or beer if they saw me again - please consider making a tax-deductible donation at the link in bio 🙏 It means more than you'll ever know.

On Dec 30, 2022, I decided to act on one of my new year's resolutions early and start @workourwayproductions - a 100% veteran owned-and-operated production company in the heart of Brooklyn. I didn't have any expectations other than to reinvest my time amplifying stories I was passionate about instead of relying on a company to decide that for me.

Looking back, it was the best decision I've ever made.

Instead of investing all of my energy into someone else's content, I put all of that motivation and momentum into my own storytelling brand. And now, one year later, I'm so happy to look back on SEVEN narrative and documentary productions (one of them feature-length!) and TWENTY TWO festival awards. And we're honestly just getting started.

It's daunting to invest in yourself. To trust yourself. To believe in yourself. But for anyone who can get over that temporary imposter syndrome, it is WORTH IT. For future crew calls and professional updates, feel free to give it a follow: @workourwayproductions ❤️ taken in Brooklyn, New York by @alliedelury

For my first feature-length documentary, I knew I wanted it to be about the incredible (and incredibly underrated) comedy scene in Fort Collins, CO.

Nestled at the Rocky Mountain foothills about an hour north of Denver, this town is home to a robust arts scene and a brand new comedy club that opened during the pandemic.

The challenges of maintaining a club and investing in small town comedy thematically align with the average struggles of local comedians. Despite uniting an audience with laughter night after night, the conflicts and choices that comedians have to confront individually off stage are nothing short of compelling.

Unless you've been immersed in the world of comedy, it's difficult to describe what happens behind the curtain. Financial strain, alcoholism, harassment, drug abuse, and mental health issues are often one of many challenges local comedians experience while trying to embrace the local grind.

As an audience member, we often only get to see and appreciate the final, hour-long comedy special - we don't see what it takes to get there. This doc will explore what motivates average people to pursue stand up comedy as they ramp up to the town's flagship comedy festival: Jokechella.

This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Fri, May 26 2023 - so please, If you've ever gotten a laugh during a tough time thanks to a local comedy show, or any clips seen on social media, please consider donating.

You can't put a price on the power of laughter, but maybe you can say you tried with the cost of a beer, or maybe a little more. If you read this far and still aren't invested...you have too much time on your hands and not enough money, and hey, I’ve been there too, so tell a friend and spread the word.

Thank you for your support. ❤️ by @alliedelury

Most abortion stories don’t even touch this topic:

What happens to mothers who want their babies more than anything, but are forced to make an impossible choice following a fetal anomaly diagnosis in an unforgiving ‘Post Roe’ environment?

South Carolina abortion laws have been a turbulent topic since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Regardless of how you feel politically, I hope you give this a watch.

Jill shares every heartbreaking detail about her recent experience having to terminate her baby following an HLHS diagnosis. Her best friend, Lacey, went through the exact same experience in 2014, and this video showcases their side-by-side experiences in a pre and post-Roe world.

I'm so thankful for @jillperryhartle and @lcflint87 for trusting us to tell their stories. It's such a selfless thing to open your wounds and hearts to the world in hopes that no one ever has to go through something like this. If you were inspired by their stories, PLEASE share it ❤️ Full link in bio.
