one year (and 4 days) ago, I started dating the love of my life. in just 365 days (plus october 2024🥰), you’ve taught me what it means to be loved as I am, and to be loved as I’m meant to be loved. I have never felt more seen, heard, or understood by anyone, and your love has taught me kindness, peace, trust, respect, connection, joy, humility, honesty, acceptance (so much about Star Wars, football, and marbles…), and that happily ever afters truly do exist. happy anniversary, mi vida. here’s to many more🫶🏻🍍🦖💚 by @allison.kinman

thank you berklee, for the most amazing, grounding, spirit-building, heartwarming, loving, and authentic experience in education I’ve ever had.

I’d like to thank the Academy… (i.e. my wonderful family, my hilarious friends both in boston and at home, my amazing boyfriend, my professors, classmates, the fantastic musicians I randomly recorded saxophone with at 2 in the morning, the ear training and harmony classes with whom I sightread ungodly atonal pieces in solfege and sang “Happy Birthday” in Phrygian… I could go on forever).

Thanks to Berklee Boston, I’ll never forget the late night trips to JP and Star Market, dying of laughter in CPK, having countless brunches and coffees and meltdowns but also an endless supply of being so proud of my projects that I cry happy tears, smiling so hard my cheeks hurt, and learning what it really means to work hard for something. I found my people at Berklee Boston, and I love you all sm❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

But I’ll also always cherish my time with Berklee Online. Berklee Online has pushed me past limits I didn’t know I was restricting myself to. It’s taught me about what passion truly is, and just how powerful it can be when you push yourself. But it’s also taught me balance and self love. I’ve learned how to be my own best friend, enjoy spending time with myself, and enjoy pushing my limits to reach new heights I never thought could be possible. I’ll always cherish this influential and self-shaping time of my life, and I am so grateful. :)

Sooo I’m done with school… forever… (whoa.) so what’s next?

I will be moving to Los Angeles within the next year to chase my dreams of becoming an established film composer. I have already had the privilege of working with amazingly talented directors such as @michaelacowancow and @sisi.scribbles , along with the occasional commissioned works (shout out to @ynohtna_zonum for the super fun duet!!), and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me (and @matt.spad !!!!🥰💚💚💚) in LA. Chapter 4: Look How Far We’ve Come

Epilogue: When I first came to this city and school 2 years ago, I had no idea I’d leave them feeling more peace than I’ve ever felt before. Fall 2021, I was insecure coming from the comfort of my home town to a big city filled with people just as talented as I am. I felt unoriginal and small. But through my journey, Berklee and Boston didn’t just teach me about music and city living. They taught me that everyone is their own unique person and we are so lucky that we get that person all to ourselves. I’ve learned to be humble, but also that your own pride is what really matters over others’ opinions of you. Most importantly, I’ve experienced the kind of love that can stretch any distance. Because of this, I know that I will always stay connected with the family I have found at Berklee. Not for the networking, but for the love.
