If you would have told me almost 2 years ago, that a handful of teenagers would capture my heart, I would have laughed. I thought I started my part-time gig because I needed the extra funds, but the truth is, I needed so much more! I needed a Lila in my life! @lila_buchan you are one of the most beautiful (inside and out) humans I have ever met! You are gorgeous, courageous and sometimes a lil' savage but that's one of the reasons I love you! I cannot wait to see what this next year brings and so grateful to have a ringside seat! Anyone who knows me, knows, I love a good old Christmas tree cake! I got the most beautiful and sweetest "arrangement" today! I'm practicing my Ms. Christmas 2025 parade wave! Thank you Jennifer and my little Sully Bean! If you would have told me a year ago, that working at that little bakery, would have brought so many incredible people in my life, I wouldn't have believed it, but here we are! While, I'm feeling nostalgic, I thought I would share this cup with all of you. When I had to once again pack up everything I own and put back in storage, this was one of the 2 coffee cups I kept out. I use it all the time to eat out of, not so much coffee.

One of my dearest co-worker and friend, bought it to share when she (Eulanda), Stacie and myself through together a last minute office holiday party. That little office party was so much fun and if you knew how hard it was to get a picture of Stacie, you would also know how much this picture means. She and Eulanda would give each other h*ll over picture taking. That was Stacie though, content to be in the background and let others shine. I miss her, I miss seeing co-workers in the office. Eulanda and Stacie both hold special places in my heart and I am forever grateful for their gift of friendship.

All this to say, a lot of times it's not what you spend at Christmas, but rather the lesson we could learn from a dollar tree cup and a spontaneous picture. Moments matter more than money.

I say this to myself as well, it's the moments that forever touch a person's heart that will be cherished for years to come. Gift moments to your loved ones, so that they can forever hold onto them.

As we approach Christmas, I wish you all the blessings that your heart can hold, that you find joy in the little things and that you are surrounded by love, laughter and peace.

A year ago today, we got the call that was inevitable but never wanted. I remember sitting in Raymond's living room and watching Joshua come down stairs to be told that his beautiful mama had left this earth. The pain of knowing there was nothing that could be done to protect him and Trey from the loss of their mom was so hard. Aunt Allie couldn't "kiss the boo boos away", she couldn't hug tight enough, there were no words, nothing that could bring comfort. It was and is theor own personal journey of grief they have to walk. Alzhiemers is ugly and brutal and although there was comfort in knowing she was finally at peace and mind and body were no longer being ravaged by disease, the death was permanent and the reality was permanent. Any hope for a miracle was gone.

Jodi was a light in this world, she was the smile that you needed, she saw beauty in everything, whether telling the random worker in a storw they were beautiful or the random stranger how pretty their shirt was, she made people feel seen, heard and encouraged. I know how she made me feel, supported, loved, appreciated and incredibly special to be an Aunt. She let me love her boys as if they were my own, she trusted me to care for them as they grew. I will be forever grateful for her.

Our year of "firsts" had come to an end, albeit truth be told, we lost her long before her body gave out. I often hear that first year is the hardest but I think the years that follow are, because there is always that empty spot at the holiday table, the missed moments where the person could be, the "new" version of normal, nobody asked for.

Keep my family and hers in your prayers today. None of are new to loss, but it's never easy.
