Paysage mythologique truculent, Fresque grotesque est une murale vidéo générative inspirée par l’opéra et l’art grotesque de la Renaissance italienne. Ode visuelle et numérique aux arts vivants, l’immense tableau animé déploie des fragments d’histoires fantastiques en mettant en scène des personnages fabuleux, figures humaines et animales hybrides, auxquels s’entremêlent feuillages, fleurs, insectes, oiseaux et objets étranges. En lente et constante métamorphose, cette allégorie picturale révèle un univers surréaliste où foisonnent une myriade de détails

This exhibition brings together captivating video installations by Allison Moore and Arthur Desmarteaux. The duo reinterprets the natural world as metaphorical and allegorical landscapes. Between dreamlike cabinets of curiosities and architectural illusions, these immersive works offer a profound and hybrid reflection on biodiversity and the fluid boundaries of life. 🦋UMWELT🦋
MOORE + SALAS

Highlights from our World Premiere of UMWELT @mutekmontreal on August 27. A magical night culminating with a lunar eclipse. Huge thank you to the entire MUTEK team for the support to bring this show to an international stage.

Using real-time generative technologies and expanded cinema techniques, MOORE + SALAS construct an immersive dome environment inspired by insect ecologies. Featuring music from Arthur Desmarteaux, the piece follows the concept of “umwelt,” inviting audiences to explore the subtle shifts and micro-adjustments that make up each species’ perception.

Project made possible through the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts de Montréal, Espace pour la vie – Montréal Insectarium, Concordia University’s Microscopy Laboratory, TAIT, and a creative residency at NEST Immersion. Special thanks to Bobby Leon, Christopher Law and Danny Bittel for their artistic and technical contributions.

Quelques photos marquantes de la première mondiale d'UMWELT au MUTEK le 27 août. Un immense merci à toute l'équipe du MUTEK pour son soutien qui a permis de présenter ce spectacle sur la scène internationale.

À travers des technologies génératives en temps réel et des techniques de cinéma élargi, MOORE + SALAS construisent un environnement immersif en dôme inspiré des écologies d’insectes. Accompagnée d’une musique d’Arthur Desmarteaux, l’œuvre s’appuie sur le concept d’« umwelt » pour inviter le public à explorer les micro-ajustements et variations perceptives qui composent l’expérience sensible propre à chaque espèce.

Ce projet a été rendu possible grâce au soutien du Conseil des arts du Canada, du Conseil des arts de Montréal, d’Espace pour la vie – Insectarium de Montréal, du Laboratoire de microscopie de l’Université Concordia, de TAIT, ainsi qu’à une résidence créative à NEST Immersion. The audiovisual collaboration between Montréal-based Allison Moore and Mexico/Canada-based Isabella Salas, MOORE + SALAS explores immersive cinema, video installation and generative systems.

Moore works in video-mapping and dome-based pieces, while Salas approaches technology as a relational process guided by an ethics of care.

The duo will perform at the MUTEK Montréal Festival on 27 August as part of Nocturne 2.

Making steady progress and half way there.

A big thank you to MUTEK for their support, the Insectarium of Montreal, Concordia Microscopy Lab, and to TAIT and NEST Immersion for the technical residencies.

But specially grateful to each person who has contributed their time, knowledge, and care to this project.

From filming alongside entomologists and exploring how microscopy bioimaging is relevant to certain specimens; or how contact sound can influence the way we understand our environments;
to testing, refining, and adapting the work for the dome, each stage has provided fascinating perspectives and new horizon to explore.

Excited to be in technical residency with TAIT and NEST Immersion this week as we bring the work closer to its fulldome form.

The cat is out of the bag.

MOORE + SALAS, Allison Moore and Isabella Salas, are thrilled to share that UMWELT has officially been announced as part of MUTEK Montréal 2026, where it will premiere on August 27.

Created in collaboration with sound composer @arthurdesmarteaux , and director of photography @_bobbyleon , UMWELT is an immersive dome performance shaped by insect ecologies, climate migration, and responsive sensing technologies.

This heart project emerged through an organic collaboration between Allison and Isabella, developing a shared visual and technological language for expanded cinema, immersive performance, and non-human perception.

UMWELT asks how technological systems can become environments for collective sensing, relational attention, and a deeper ethics of care toward the living world.

We thank the generosity and support of the Conseil des Arts de Montreal, Concordia University, NAD, School of Digital Arts, Animation and Design - UQAC, MUTEK, and Espace pour la vie, alongside an expanding circle of collaborators across technological arts, science research, and immersive media.

This first public presentation at the Satosphere @sat_montreal Société des arts technologiques [SAT] bon Aug 27th, marks an important milestone in the evolution of the work.

🏆MYSTIC VALE 🏆won a prize for Best Sound as part of the Montevideo Fulldome Film festival in Uruguay! Mystic Vale is a real forest near where I grew up, and also represents the first location I began making photogrammetry scans when I started this research in 2016. I spent the last decade trying to better my skills to capture environments for immersive projects, but this scan of mossy trees in the mystic vale ravine has always been a sanctuary to me, and still one of my fav point clouds. Happy to share this film with the world. The film features an incredible spatialized sound composition from Arthur Desmarteaux. Thank you to the festival and the jury! ✨💐👐🏼
